LCT case load

Hi.

Would you folks give me a little feedback on the number of long term care residents that you make up a full time MDS coordinators load. She is responsible for daily order update of care plans, RAPS, coordinating and locking MDS and running resident care plan meeting.

Thanks.

Trying to be fair.

Hi

I am the Medicare nurse and run from 14-30 PPS residents. They just hired a second MDS nurse for the LTC, they give her 20 hours, then an additional 20 hours to do Restorative nursing. We are a 120 bed home. She has apx 90-100 to do, depending on the moment, she runs the Care COnfrence, but is not responsible for Care plans or submission.

Hope this helps
Debbie

There are two of us in the MDS office. We have 139 residents....anywhere from 15-20 of which at a time are skilled. I do all assessments for the 139, including Medicare, HMO, significant change, annual and quarterly. I also write all nursing care plans and update them. My boss does the scheduling, HMO updates, Medicare D auths, certs and skilled cut phone calls/letters. We take turns running PPS meetings. Floor nurses sit in on care plan conferences, though we make sure everything is ready for them. Hope this helps!

I am the MDS Coordinator for our 66 bed facility. I complete and transmit all the MDS - Obra and Medicare, update careplans and head the careplan meetings. We are certified fro 15 medicare, but right now we only have 10. When we are full of medicare and they are going in and out of the hospital, it gets very hectic.
