Discharge return not anticipated or LOA

  1. 0 My facility recently did discharge planning on a resident who wished to go home. The resident was sent home but billing has him down as a loa. The billing department wants me to hold off on the discharge return not anticipated until his Medicaid bed hold days are up. To me this is fraud, any suggestions? By the way, th resident is receiving home health care.

i would not do that. I would do the discharge as the resident went home and yes i think it would be fraudulent to make medicaid pay for bed hold days on a discharged resident esp if they were sent home with ancillary services like home health.
