CODING -I1QQ Renal Failure?


hello, question for coding I1QQ-Renal Failure do you only put yes when they are on dialysis? that would be considered renal failure. What if they have chronic kidney disease (CKD)? ARF? CKD stage 3? thanks

  • 584.5 LOWER NEPHRON NEPHROSIS
  • 584.6 ACUTE RENAL FAILURE, CORT NECR
  • 584.7 ACUTE RENAL FAILURE, MEDULL NECR
  • 584.8 ACUTE RENAL FAILURE NEC
  • 584.9 ACUTE RENAL FAILURE NOS
  • 585.1 CHRONIC KIDNEY DIS STAGE I
  • 585.2 CHRONIC KIDNEY DIS STAGE II
  • 585.3 CHRONIC KIDNEY DIS STAGE III
  • 585.4 CHRONIC KIDNEY DIS STAGE IV
  • 585.5 CHRONIC KIDNEY DIS STAGE V
  • 585.6 END STAGE RENAL DISEASE
  • 585.9 CHRONIC KIDNEY DIS NOS
  • 586.0 RENAL FAILURE NOS
If any of above, on dialysis or not, check Renal Failure, then enter specific ICD9 code in I3
