by jpav33

Since we are newly certified I have another question related to residents being discharged from skilled services. The residents ARD for the 14 day PPS is set for 12/3/08....The doctor was plannig off taking him off skilled on 12/10 if everything stays the same and our dept was planning to give out the notice 12/8..His PPS/MDS 14 day is going to be completed in the computer on 12/10.. is this schedule ok if it ends up like this? If not any suggestions???? Thank you for alll your help

Look at the table on the SNF PPS assm't sched on p2-27 of the RAI.

Under "Applicable Medicare Payment Days"
  • 5-day MDS pays from day 1-14
  • 14-day pays from day 15-30, etc.

Thus, if last day of Med A falls on or before day 14, the 14-day assm't is not needed.
But if last of Med A coverage is day 15 onward, then the 14-day must be completed.
