I applied as well, and unfortunately got my rejection letter today... I'm really bummed... I have MS in education, 4.0 GPA from Bunker Hill, completed PCA certificate and work at Mass General for over a year now. I had great references and applied on time. I don't know what else I could have done to make it...
I got my rejection letter also. I'm SUPER bummed!!!!!!!!!

My background: 3.0 GPA-BS in Health Science... 3.7 -pre-req GPA
I currently work in a Hospital, got two recommendation letters from my dept.
Not sure of what I could've done better either!

But Good luck to those who have upcoming or have had interviews.
Best of luck in Nursing School.

Keep us posted on your progress and the program, Not sure if i will re-apply yet.

No phone call, no rejection letter, and no email. Hmmm, I think they forgot about me.

My background: 3.68 GPA from Bridgewater State in Math, Physics, and Philosophy (graduated in 97); 4.0 in prerequisites. Worked as an actuarial analyst for 10 years, but I've been a stay-at-home mom for the past four years. No previous health care experience.

I applied before the deadline but it took a longgg time for my application materials to go onto my checklist. It finally says "completed". I haven't received a letter, email or phone call yet.. were those of you who were rejected given an explanation? The other schools I looked into base their admissions decision on a "score" (made up of grades, test scores, etc). Students are ranked and a cut off score is determined. Those below the cut off score do not make it. I wonder how umass bases their decision? On GPA? healthcare experience? (healthcare experience wasn't listed as a pre req though so it shouldn't be required). I'm surprised to see people with masters and 4.0s getting rejected. I wonder what a qualifying candidate looks like?

    Best if luck!!

Did people get their rejection letters in the mail? I haven't heard anything, but also didn't know that if you applied early you could find out earlier. Don't you have to have an interview before you are admitted? Or do we find out if we get an interview by March 15th?

I think this is the last week for interviews. I went in yesterday, don't feel so great about my interview. Everyone will know for sure by March 15th if they are weightlisted, denied, or accepted.

    the website says:
    tentative schedule of notification:

[color=#3a3a3a]notification of finalists: last week of february
interviews for finalists: first two weeks of march
initial decision notification: 4th week of march
waitlisted decision notification: 3rd week of may

    and my application status says:
we have done an initial review of your nursing application. you have qualified to be placed in the nursing pool. spring 2011 candidates will be mailed a decision letter the first week in december. fall 2011 candidates will receive a decision letter by march 15.

so i'm not sure where i stand if i haven't gotten an interview.

That's weird. I thought ABSN started in Summer only? Did you apply for traditional program?

Yeah it does start in the Summer, I think the dates are wrong on the website...

    Trendzetta,
I'm sorry to hear you did not get in. I had an interview about a month ago ( because my application was 'Complete' back in November) and was told I would be put back into the pool for review after all other applications were received. I haven't heard anything from them since, so I'm curious to know if your application status was updated on-line. Hang in there, nursing programs are ridiculously hard to get into. I'm sure you are extremely qualified and you WILL get in soon enough!

    Hi cwrn1,

    Thank you.. yeah, its stinks.
maybe i'll try again next yr or something.. Applying to Nursing School is so draining!!! Sometimes you just can't get your hopes up too high, I guess!
But as far as my status, it didn't change online. I received my letter and that's it. To be honest, I haven't logged on again to see if it's changed. No point in looking anyway.

From reading some of the other posts, if you haven't heard as of yet, you have a good chance in being accepted.

    Good luck!!
