    Hi everyone! So congrats to those that have gotten in and fingers crossed for those that are still waiting to hear! I had a question for everyone (and alumni!)
    I am relocating from California. I know that they suggest bringing a car; however I was wondering where our clinicals tend to be and if public transportation would work? I read that clinicals can be in New Hampshire and/or Boston! Is that only for our internship the last semester? It seems absurd to drive that far just for the day. Or can you pick to have your clinicals close to UMass? If anyone has any insight or information on this that would be awesome and greatly appreciated!
    Thanks so much!!
    Hi shamrock a friend of mine who is very familiar with the area told me that we should get a car to get around.

    I was in the traditional RN program at umass...but you will definitely want a car. There is NO public transportation to anywhere where you would do clinicals. There MAY be a bus to one of the community hospitals but clinicals are very wide spread and there are no trains/metro or city bus type transportation.

    As far as picking clinicals, at least in the traditional program we were unable to do that, spots are few and far between and you go where they tell you to go pretty much. Yes some people did drive up to 2 hours away just for regular clinicals - not the internship. I was lucky to get most of my clinicals in springfield but that is still a 45-60 min drive. And then there are the community hospitals that are way out there in remote/rural areas that can also take over an hour to get to

    Amherst is a beautiful place and I miss it dearly but it is definitely more on the country side of things with no easy way to get anywhere other than driving.

    Good luck, hope you enjoy it!

    I thought about it- but I decided just move out there in late August. Also- for those of you who are still waiting to hear back- I called yesterday about when they will send out the letters/packets and they said they are still getting those together. Also there is still no set date on when orientation is.

    Hey guys, I just realized that though I'm posing all these questions I never happened to mention that I got in. I'm super excited as I have been working on this process for about 2 yrs as I work full time as a High School English teacher. I am leaving that profession I'm a 32 year old female from central MA. I will probably be commuting, even though that scares me a bit. I have been looking to see if I could find a really cheap room to rent, just for those days where I'm really tired, not full time. But if anyone else is around central MA (Worcester, Auburn) let me know. Congrats everyone!

    @dbabklyn -- I'm new to the site so I can't PM! Email me: rfdoncev@gmail.com
    I was weighing the locations, programs, and costs. Wagner was $$ but you don't need a car, UMDNJ was reasonable and close to NYC but in a bad area. UMass had no faults except I got rid of my car when I moved to NYC so will have trouble getting around, I presume. Also, I like the 3 month internship at the end of the program -- I think it's a logical transition. Sent in my form for UMass.
