Transfer students into BSN or associates program

Next semester I will have an associates degree in Science-Transfer from Massasoit. My plan was to apply into a BSN program. I call around today for application and information session details and almost every school said they haven't accepted transfer students in years, and to save my application fee money. Curry said they haven't accepted a transfer student in 3 years, UMASS Dartmouth in 2.

I'm feeling discouraged. It looks like I have to apply into an associates degree program, and go from there. Does anyone have any suggestions, or advise?

My GPA is 3.6, I'm an honors program member, and Phi Theta Kappa.

My sister in law is at MCPHS nursing program, she was able to transfer her credits from Quincy to their nursing program in Boston. Try talking to them

In addition to the suggested schools, I think you should look into UMASS Boston and Salem State. If you get into UMASS, it takes about 2.5 to 4 years for you to complete the program depending on the courses you've taken. Also you have to take the TEAS V test in order to be eligible and have a passing score of 'proficient' (I believe that is a 65 and above (please make sure to double check the minimum passing score as I don't remember), but I think if you can score in the 80s or 90s you should have a great chance of getting in). As for Salem State, it takes 3 years to complete their program. The application deadline for both schools is February 1st if you're trying to start in Fall/September 2014 semester.

In general, look into state colleges/universities as they are more apt and open to accept students transferring in from community colleges. Also, tuition discounts and scholarships are made readily available to students with a community college background. I hope this helps!

U Mass Amherst won't take transfer either. U Mass Lowell will take some...Salem does as well...have you tried Fitchburg state?

Thank you all for the responses! You've made some great suggestions. I will be taking the TEAS test in two weeks, I hope I do well. Since I found out those college weren't accepting transfer students I was just thinking about applying at Massasoit, Bristol Community College, and Brockton Hospital School of Nursing. I really wanted to get into a 4 year school, so I think I will take your suggestions and apply at UMASS Lowell and Salem State. I called just about everywhere on the list of nursing programs provided by the state when I googled and most places (4 years schools I mean) just weren't taking transfer students. It's tough to keep positive with this kind of news! Thank you all. Any other advice or thoughts would be great and very much appreciated! :)
