Hey Massachusetts! My name is Emily. I live in Boston currently, working as a CNA. I am interested in LPN or pre-nursing for RN. Anywhere in the state!! I may be moving to western mass in summer, so if anyone has reccomendations for LPN training or pre-nursing, that would be greatly appreciated. Ive even looked into a little of CT's programs (Lincoln TEch, Goodwin, Stone Academy). I have some pre-reqs done at Holyoke Community College so I'm hoping I will be able to apply those to my upcoming education.

I havent applied anywhere yet, just trying to get an idea of what's out there and what others think of different programs. (Entrance exams, competatitveness, quality of education, etc.)

Also using this opportunity to chat with other hopefuls like myself! Hope to hear from you!:D

I'm going to STCC right now, and axiously awaiting my acceptance letter for the fall semester. *fingers crossed* I chose this school over the others in the area because it has an awesome program, and not just when compared to CC's. It's a good program, period. Also, it is a direct feed into UMASS if you choose to continue with your BSN. There is actually a new option this year that I'll be looking into if I'm accepted where you do two years at STCC to get your RN (plus the year of pre-reqs), and then finish your BSN throught UMASS in just one more year - so it really will be a four year degree instead of a five or six year degree through the "traditional" track.

It is extremely competetive, though. They have something like a thousand applicants, and only 100 seats to fill. Their entrance exam wasn't bad - they use the HESI, and I scored a 94% without ever having taken A&P, Micro, and I've been out of school for almost ten years. I studied like CRAZY for about a month, but it can be done. You just have to be devoted - but that goes for any nursing program.

Don't know much about western MA programs, but if you have questions about pre-reqs or going back to school, would be happy to help having made the transition myself a few years ago. Where are you currently living?
