NEU Direct Entry Online?

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hello,

I was browsing the Northeastern University website and saw there is a new Direct Entry (Online) BSN/MSN program that is located out of the Burlington campus. They don't require the GRE's for this program, but they do for their regular Direct Entry. When I asked why, they simply said it wasn't required at this time, but may be in the future. Has anyone heard of this "online" program or know anyone who has done it?

I just disovered this program. I understand it just started this year (12'). It sounds great, but I'd like more details, (which are not on the website). I filled out the info form and was able to locate a direct email for a program admin, as I currently live in England. My husband is active-duty with the U.S Air Force, so I REALLY, REALLY need a program that can relocate with us--thus the interest of the program being online. We'll be stationed in AL for 1 year as of July 2013.

Questions:

1. Can this program be completed out-of-state? How often are the labs on-campus?

2. When do clinicals start? Must be completed in Burlington or community-based?

3. Can you just pursue the BSN component or are your required to go MSN and specialize?

4. If you're required to complete MSN, are you able to specialize in a field other than admin or neo? I would be most interested in FNP.

5. What are people's thoughts on the cost of this program? Each phase BSN and MSN is $50k+. Ouch! Are scholarships offered? Good finiancial aid for those that already have a Bachelor's? (Big problem I ran into with other programs).

6. Anyone currently going through this program? I'd like to hear more feedback on what the program is like.

Thanks!

Hi the program is online. But you will need to live in Ma to complete it. You need to be available for clinical in MA and exams are not online. lab is one day a week. I don't see how it will be possible to complete it from AL. Birmingham AL, UAB has a 2nd degree program you might want to look into

For those of you starting in January, why do we have to wait to register/order books for Nursing with women and families? Also, has anyone ordered their supply pack yet?

Thanks. Just found this information out. Too bad... Not going to work for me.

Hi Kristenk64,

Congrats on your acceptance! My biggest advice would be to keep up with your assignments, or even ahead if you can. This program is very fast paced. Even though the lectures are online you will be meeting at least three times a week (lab, clinical, and exams). Also, try to find a study buddy, and yes payless shoes are fine as long as they're all white and comfortable because you will be on your feet all day during clinical.

I just had a few questions:

1. What is your mon-Sunday schedule like [ie how many days and hours on campus/hour many hours for clinical]

2. how many tests do you have in one day at most [i know they are on campus]?

3. your overall honest impression ?

4. how many hours per week do you devote to the coursework?

i tried scrolling back to see those answers but I couldn't find them....

Do they help you with job placement? What are the NCLEX style exam questions like, are they harder than normal?

Thought I might bump this because for those with questions about the hybrid program going back in this thread helps a ton!

Does anyone know if you can defer to the following semester if you are accepted?

Noticed on NE website that they are no longer accepting applicants into the Hybrid option. What happened?!
