Hi, I was wondering if anyone has applied to the MGHIHP new accelerated BSN program? If so, what do you think your chances are of being accepted?... Read More

Kimpop! congrats on getting in You are very lucky to have two great programs to choose from! I have a friend in the program now so feel free to ask me anything you'd like! She is def. enjoying it, and i would say the best part about the program is the clinicals because you get to work in all the best hospitals in boston (though this does not guarantee a job later on) My sister also attended the school but for a different program, and it absolutely has a very good reputation, especially in nursing! You have a very tough choice because i am sure hopkins is an equally excellent program, either way i'm sure you will do great! Congrats again and good luck making your choice!

So this course that you mentioned at Weber is strictly online?

    Hi Sharanigans and Flannfry,

I share your predicament as well and have been freaking out about the chemistry situation. I haven't taken a chem course yet so unfortunately, the Iowa one is not an option for me since an intro chem course is a prerequisite. I was thinking of taking the accelerated winter session one at Lowell but I dont have car so that is an issue.

Thus, I just registered for the online course, Chem 1050 at Weber State University in Utah. The course goes from 1/5 - 5/1 and I was assured that an electronic transcript would be available by 5/4/09 and that an official transcript would be mailed shortly after. Hopefully, IHP will accept these transcripts.

actually mentioned this course at my info session in October 2007 so it should definitely be approved. Plus, the course descripton says "An introduction to general, organic and biochemistry designed primarily for students of nursing and other majors that require no more than one semester of chemistry. Four hours of lecture and one 3-hour lab a week." It sounds like a perfect fit.

The course is 5 credits total with a mandatory lab. The total cost was a whopping $977.50 but worth it to have peace of mind.

Hope this helps. I look forward to meeting you in May.

    Hi Passion4u,

I just wanted to make sure that you know that the program at MGH actually starts on May 4th...not May 9th. So your course would need to be completed BY May 3rd. It's OK if your grade takes a bit longer to get into MGH though. That's what Alex at MGH told me. And yes, that Weber course is supposed to be all online so it's a good bet

    Hope that helps!

    Happy holidays

Thank you so much for replying and with that information! I appreciate all that you said. I feel much better now. I'm taking a nutrition winter course and I just need to take micro.

Do you know if Weber have a start/end date?

    hi passion4u,

you're very welcome. glad i could help

i believe the course ends on may 1st. since it was the same person at mgh who suggested the school, i'm certain that it fits the time line needed. not sure what the start date is though. if i were you i'd sign up as soon as possible though so your course doesn't fill up. if you look backwards at the posts on this thread i think that rica gives a link to the weber website. check it out

    good luck and take care!

    hello silvedragon102,

i just wanted to mention that the "weber" we've been speaking about is a college...not a person. it's an online college where pre-reqs are available that are accepted at the school we've all been accepted to.

and regarding your note on 12/26/08, the "rica" referred to is a screen name on this thread...not an actual name. i don't know anyone's actual names.

    just thought i'd help clarify.

    thank you and take care.

I wasn't taking about this but a few have mentioned a contact name at the school and that is what I am talking about and I have removed said name from several posts

    Hi All,

Is anyone else having trouble submitting their FAFSA online??? I'm having a terrible time with it. There seems to be some problem with their website. It won't let me get to the point where I sign and submit it. It's very frustrating. I'm just wondering if it's something that I'm doing wrong or if it's something that other people are experiencing too? Let me know if you can Thanks everyone!!! Happy New Year

    Hi!

I just got a couple of emails from financial aid regarding the FAFSA for the grant, is that what you're trying to do? It said that the website is having issues and to submit a paper FAFSA. The second email said that they would be understanding of the FAFSA issues and would forgive that requirement for the grant application.

    Hope that helps!
