Hi all,

There were one or two comments at the end of the 2012 thread that went unanswered, so I figured I would start a thread for those applying to the MGH ASBN beginning January 2013. I received the email this morning saying my application is complete, so now the waiting begins.

Anyone else applying for this cycle? We can commiserate during the wait and hopefully share the good news later. :)

So I came home after work and a girl from admissions had left me a message saying that she was calling regarding my application.. Obviously she had left her office by the time I called back so now I have to wait until Monday :/ I hope she has good news for me!!

So apparently the transcript from UMass they had on file did not say that my degree was completed. So the woman from admissions asked me to fax my unofficial transcript now and mail them my official one when I have the opportunity. I asked about being admitted and she said that she can't accept me officially over the phone without this degree info so I'm just waiting. They said by mid-week the admissions dept should have final decisions about the wait list. So let's all keep our fingers crossed!

My name is Nina. I got accepted into the Spring 2012 ABSN program and just wondering what the class schedule is like. I can't seem to find anything...anywhere.:down: I know its full time but is it like an 8-430 day Mon-Fri, or are they regular college courses spread out at different times of the day (like day and night). I know the summer might be set up differently but any input you have would be great.

Hey Nina,

I'm in the program currently (started summer 12') and the schedule isn't very typical of what regular college courses are like. Basically all the classes are chosen for you since there's only one new cohort of students at a time for the ABSN program. Your first semester consists of 4 courses, a mix of online/hybrid/on campus classes. The first few weeks consists of some heavy frontloading where you'll be in class a lot. A typical week consists of one skills lab (4 hrs), 2 clinical site days (psych and med-surg, 7-9 hrs each), one lecture day (4 hrs typically), and a bunch of online class material. Very rarely are you on campus every day of the week once frontloading ends. There are no night classes, usually one saturday class meeting per month for the online ones. Also the class will be split up along the way for the med-surg clinical, one day half the students will be in clinical while the other half have skills lab. Summer is pretty much the same as any other semester. Hope this helps. Let me know if there are any other questions, otherwise good luck to you all.

I applied for it too but my pre requisites are still in progress: AandPII, Stat and Chemistry andI was asked to send my transcript as soon as I finish the classes. I hope this Spring 2013 I will be accepted! can't wait for another year to start NURSING...
