Hi All,

Just got an email to come in for an interview. Any LMHRC students or graduates out there that can tell me what to expect during the interview and what questions they may ask? Thanks!

Congrats on getting an interview. The interviewer is very approachable she will make you feel very comfortable. Why do you want to be a nurse? How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 4. Appearance, adaptability, responsibility etc. why should they accept you into the program? Those are the ones I can remember but it is along those lines. I had a couple other questions because this is a 2nd career for me so if you are a more recent high school graduate then the subsequent questions maybe a little different. When is your interview?

Good luck today just be confident in who you are and your answers. I would imagine unless she gives you an indication at the interview that you wouldn't be a good fit then you would probably know within a few days. Uniform fitting is in June so they will have to let you know soon if you got in. She does not tell you at the interview that you are in. She will just go over everything and say that the board has to review and if you are accepted you will get a letter. Where u were in nursing before but didn't finish she will ask about it. Whatever the reason just be clear that you weren't able to continue because of xyz but that is all behind you and you are able and ready now because xyz. Write to us and let us know how it went.

So everything went great was told that I would know in 2 weeks about their decision, i will start in January. It will either me a direct entry or i will be a Non-matriculating Student

So if you area direct entry and get accepted you would start clinicals in January? What would involve you being non matriculating? Probation period?

Both would start in January, non matriculating i would take 2 courses and based on my performance is whether i am accepted

I really want to apply here. I'm currently trying to finish my associates in psych but do not want to continue for my bachelors in psychology at the moment - will eventually do that. My grades aren't terrible, but some of them aren't great. Does this school look at every class from my transcript, or only those that will be transferred for this program? Will a few bad marks completely make me have no chance? I don't even know if I should apply now, while I'm still finishing up some courses, or until I can finish everything. I haven't taken any science pre-reqs where I am now yet because I'm just trying to finish up the required ones for my program now. So confused... just wondering if you have any advice :)

@katex03,

They look at more than just grades. D's and F's will not look good if they are recent but if you have gotten a couple C's earlier on but have been maintaining better grades since then that will be a plus. You can only take at most about 7 classes with you towards the nursing degree. I had gotten a C+ in Eng comp I and a F in my Algebra but that was back 18yrs ago and since I went back to school 3+yrs ago I have gotten all As in my classes. My GPA suffered due to that F still showing on my transcript and because of that my GPA when I applied was about 3.37. I personally would not apply until you are about ready to start into nursing. I would finish up what you are doing get the best grades that you can and then start taking classes within the nursing curriculum. Obviously you will already have classes that are also used for the nursing degree like Eng Comp I and II, sociology possibly and maybe even a statistics and developmental psych I and II or Human growth and development. I'm not sure where you are currently going to school but you can take classes at a community college and transfer them in. Were you interested in going for their 2yr associates nursing program and if so were you thinking about the day or evening program? In the evening program you pretty much have all the core courses completed before starting the nursing. I only have statistics and Eng comp II left to do. I am taking the stats this summer at Regis, in fall starting the nursing in Medford and then taking my Eng next summer back at Regis main campus. Both those classes are not required prior to starting nursing clinicals but A&P, Human Growth and others are. You really need to show that you are a solid student so it is okay if you have a little blip on your transcript but it really shouldn't be a consistent occurance. If you have not gone to their nursing information session in Medford I'd recommend that you do. You can ask some questions at the end of the session. Have you gone on their website? If not most of the information that you need is on there. Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program - Program Overview

I'm already at a community college, my final for human growth & development is Thursday and I'm taking En 102 this summer along with Intermediate Algebra online, and in September I'm taking a night time statistics class. I was hoping to just get out of there ASAP because my GPA isn't the best due to not caring a few years ago and I'm afraid if I take Bio, Microbio, A&P 1&2, Chemistry that it might hinder it even more or make it better. I've taken so many courses already though it would be hard to make a dramatic positive change, you know? I wish I could goto one of the info sessions but it's almost impossible with night classes directly after working. I did goto their website and read everything I could and it doesn't sound like it's too bad at all just going to take dedication - I want to go into the 2 year and then get my BSN.

Do you happen to know all of the pre-reqs for nursing there? I'm assuming.. English 1 & 2, Human growth & development, Intro to psych, Intro to soc, Statistics, Bio, Microbiology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2, Nutrition (or is that one you can take before you start nursing?) Just want to try to figure this out

You can only bring 6 to 7 of your classes to Lawrence Memorial.. You have to take at least 3 of the classes there at Regis but Regis is very expensive. My statistics class is over $1400.

A&P I & II

Microbiology

Human Growth

Intro to Sociology

Ethics

Statistics

Eng Comp I & II

NU 404, Concepts & Challenges for Professional practice to be cmpd anytime after completing nursing 102

In the evening program... all classes need to be completed before starting nursing except for Stats, Eng I & II and NU 404 which can be cmpd anytime prior to graduation.
