Full Time Quincy College Sept 2012

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hi,

Does anyone know what is going on with them extending the deadline for applicants for the full time program till May 15th??? Were there not enough applicants?? I don't want to have to wait until June to hear back, when I already got my application in before.

Just got my letter today with all of the info about the PE/vax requirements. Even if I get in to see my Dr. on monday, I would not be able to get the Hep B done in time for the orientation I would only be able to get the 1st of the series. So, on monday, I need to call my Dr. Office to see when they can see me for a physical and then I also need to call the school and see what they want all of us newly accepted students to do about the getting our vaccinations. (I would hope that they have a second deadline for us but who knows)

You need to get the first one heb b - if you can't get the physical done get your drs office to call in a prescription in to cvs minute clinic or I got mine done at rite aide - you need to wait 30 days to get the second shot & six months after that to get the 3rd , you just need to have the first two shots before you start clinical.

I really hope they have a second deadline because I'm not positive I can get everything done in time. I'm calling my doctor first thing in the morning and praying they can squeeze me in!

a coworker who is also in the program as well, said he called and they said as long as the first shot is done by clinical that is fine, and clinicals don't start until Oct.

I picked up some white nurse mates at bldg 19 :-)

Well, I dropped off my seat deposit today! And my doctor's office fit me in for an appointment this Thursday! Yay! I so can't wait for orientation :)

Haha, lucky you!! My doctor has no opening for about 9 months. Thankfully she had a NP who has openings sooner than that, but the first available appointment when I called Monday morning wasn't until June 14th!

When I spoke with the Nursing Dept. yesterday, they told me that as long as everything is done prior to the start of classes, I will be fine. We do not register for classes until the end of August. Also, for anyone who is concerned about parking (since you have to register for classes before you can buy a parking pass) I was told that there will be special accommodations for Nursing students.

We do not register for classes until the end of August.

Yikes! That seems so far away! But it's really good to hear about the parking!

Wow end of August! ok glad to hear about parking :-) I am coming from JP and every time I go to Quincy i get lost :-( I will have to get the route down. :-)

any interest in a fb page for Quincy RN class 2014?

Lol, I was surprised that it was towards the end of August too. The person I spoke with in the Nursing Dept. said it was partially because the nursing classes are only open to us nursing students, so there is no worry about the classes filling up. They know exactly how many of us there will be. Waiting until the end of August to have us register will allow time for everyone to pay their seat deposits, get their physicals, vaccines, CORI's and CPR classes taken care of. ( Also, it will allow the school some time to send out acceptance letters to any waitlisted students if a spot opens up)

I think a fb group would be a good idea. It will make it easier for us to communicate once classes start.
