Boston area OB nurses, how are things on your units?

I work in peds, but have interviewed at the same area hospital twice in the past two years for an OB position. Things are just so tight with the delivery rate being down that the units can't afford to hire RNs who don't have a couple years of L&D experience behind them. I have newborn experience and some mother baby, but only occasionally assisted with deliveries. How are things at your hospital? Are you hiring? Is your delivery rate up or down? I find it interesting that when I search for positions I find a lot of travel positions for area hospitals, but the budget can't accomodate a benefited position. I would think it costs much more to house and pay for travelers over the long run than to train a nurse who wants to stay for the long haul. Are you using a lot of travelers?
