Anyone in the LPN full time program at Quincy College for the fall?

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hi - I am attending Quincy College in the fall for the full time LPN program. (I missed the application deadline for the RN program  ). Just wondering if there are any other students out there or if anyone has gone througth this program.

I'm specifically looking for information on how easy it is to transition from the LPN to the RN program.

Thanks so much!

Yes, I agree, I think it will depend upon class schedule- home schedule. Oops, I didn't realize you had other children! At home still, a 17 & 21 year old who are here 1/2 time in and out, lol, I have daughter who is 12, a son 6(in May) and a daughter -16months. So really the only one who is really out right now is my 19 year old son!

That's what they told me in admissions-but they couldn't "formally" say I was accepted, that I would have to wait for my acceptance letter. After meeting with a friend of mine who is a principal I am definitely leaning more strongly towards QC. I will definitely let you know as soon as I get my letter! And if I'm going there, it would be great to meet for coffee and a chat!

Yeah, I gotta run, my kids will start coming in the door very shortly, have a good one!

Tanya, are you thinking of switching to the RN program? I noticed that they have opened the list until April 15th.

I can't :- ( You can't even apply unless you have all your pre-requisites finished. I would need to have A&P I done first. Also, financially, a two year program won't work. I need to generate an income after my unemployment runs out :- )

That's why I'm not doing the RN, I need some income before 2 years, lol!

Exactly!

All the best!:)

hi congrats on starting the PN program at quincy!! I grad from the full time program in june of 08. I have nothing but great things to say about the program, the teachers are all awesome and i feel that i was highly prepared to start working in any field after grad. I took my boards and passed 1st try 6 days after grad. The program is intense and i recomend you take some classes in the summer to lighten the load. I'm currently enrolled in a RN program out in western mass at a local community college and have to say that i feel like i learned more while in PN school then i did in the year and a half of Rn school. If you are looking into going to a RN program right away it can be done i was accepted for the following fall after i graduated. i graduate with my RN this may, but make sure to have the pre reqs done. Good luck on your time at Quincy College, and all the bad things you hear about the instructor Doreen DO NOT believe them!!! She is the best teacher they have there, is she hard yes but will do anything in her power to make sure you understand the material.

Hello, I am applying to the QC RN program in January 2011. I needed to get some information from anyone who has gone through the program regarding the scheduling. I am not sure if I want to go to the full time or part time program. I have all of my prereqs completed so I only need the actual nursing classes. I am a mom of three and I currently work 30 hours per week. I want to know from anyone what the full time days and hours are vs the part time program.

Thanks for your help!
