The parking on Pearl street itself is for anyone, 7:30 is usually a good time to park. First couple days there can be a small line waiting to turn on pearl street (Lot 1's entrance being directly before the turn onto Pearl St doesn't help those turning on to Pearl street to get into Lot 2 or park on Pearl). With what is being said about the parking situation this year, I'm sure it'll be a little worse than usual. I'm not trying to dampen any one's hopes of parking closer. But at least the first day or two, you might want to get there a bit earlier in case you don't find parking on pearl and have to head to the other lots.

Hope everyone enjoys the last two days left of vacation!

Yes you can get another decal next year, but if you are financial aid/student loans usually you are at the end of the summer nomatter what. When you send the parking email if you say that you are a nursing student, they try to place all nursing students in lots 1 and 2. If you park on pearl street be sure not to park near where the people do u-turns because cars got hit there quite often last year by people that misjudged the turn. Also don't park in the area close to the gate either (you'll see the no parking signs) cause they will really tow/ticket you.
Lots 3 and 4 aren't that bad, it is especially nice to not have to walk on the street or in the rain/snow...the shuttle drops you off right outside the bookstore.

Obviously I have been at STCC far to long...time to graduate!

I never thought to say I'm a nursing student! I'll probably get in lot 3 or 4 then. They didn't seem too far away from lot 2, but maybe I'm misremembering. How often does the shuttle come around? At HCC it was something like every 10-15 minutes starting at 9 a.m. It'll be my first time taking classes at STCC, so everything is new to me.

I don't know anything about electronic scan cards....never had them in the past. Are they for the parking lots?

yep, I did say I was a nursing student to no avail since I am a LOT 4 girl!

There is a traffic advisory on the homepage of STCC. Did anyone else see it? The traffic around there is pretty bad.

What books would you experienced Students think we need right away. I don't have all my books yet. Money has been tight and I am still waiting for financial aid to come through. I am trying not to use charge cards but I may have too. I didn't think financial aid would take this long.

I have the Fundamentals book and study guide, nursing diagnosis and handbook, the dvds, lab kit, docunotes, nutri notes. the stcc handbook. I am thinking I may need the med surg and pharmacology ones soon as well.

PS Has anyone seen the carpool incentive STCC offers? I would totally do that, just don't know how many people would actually be coming from my way. I should call and just see. You get a cash incentive and a primo parking space!!

Since you are waiting on financial aid, were u deferred and did they give you an authorization for X amount of money to be used at the bookstore? You might try talking to financial aid to see if they will authorize you for more to be used at the bookstore. I know you used to be able to back when I first starting going to STCC, but that well over 5 years ago. It doesn't hurt to try.

Yes, I did get it referred and I got the $300 credit for the bookstore and I did use it. For some reason she said she couldn't bump it up for me.

Tomorrow is the day!! Building 2!!!

Yeah! I saw the traffic advisory.. I think I'm going to take a ride up there the way they suggest so I can be prepared for tomorrow, since I don't really know the area very well and only really know one way to get there from my house.

ProudTwinMom, I'm messaging you on facebook! Go look (:
