Hi all,

Just wanted to see if anyone has had anymore luck with finding hospitals that are actually hiring new grads..

I relocated to New Orleans after graduation with my BSN from a Boston-area nursing school thinking that the job market had to be a little better than Boston's. Well, I was wrong. There aren't any positions for new grads here either. Now I'm considering a move back to Boston if I could land a position (since I did all my clinicals at the Boston hospitals, and have a few connections in HR).

Congrats to everyone who have found jobs!

No new grad positions here in the Boston area. Saw a funny one, a Caritas Christi Hospital position for med-surg float; ACLS (I have it), PALS (I have it), TNCC or CEN or CCRN (I have TNCC), IV Skills (I am certified), Telemetry (I have it, certified) 10-15 years experience (I don't have it, just 3 yrs as LPN in sub-acute care) This is from the same hospital that nurses turned their noses up at just 1.5 yrs ago. WHAT NURSING SHORTAGE?????

So WHY they still organize nursing job fairs if they don't hire????? Why do they spend thousands of dollars to buy a booth at hotels?? If they have no money to hire new nurses but spent so much at the hotels? For who is that business?

They have to book this health fairs in advance, also what else to the nurse recruiters have to do. I think it gives false hope.

I feel bad for you. You seem like a bright and motivated person.

The difference is many of the "certifications" have no experience attached to them. For example to be a CCRN you have to have RN experience. I don't know what you mean when you say you are telemetry and IV certified, since most hospitals do their own in house training and don't depend on outside certifications.

There is no shortage in MA. In Boston they want RNs with BSNs. Home care seems to be hiring RNs. Is there any way you could move into a management position in the sub acute you work in. Don't give up this situation will end.
