I'm sure over the next few months there will LOTS of information sent! I'm super excited as well that we will be the first class, but in the same sense a little nervous because the program is so new. I know a few people that were in the same position with being the first class somewhere and it not being recognized although it was accredited. But I'm sure we will be fine! I attended Lambuth University in TN. and you?

I agree, it does make me a little nervous. I went to Curry College in MA. Do you know of anyone else that has applied to this program?

Oh okay, I understand. I am super excited as well that we are the first class, it should be mighty interesting. I wonder how the class will be. Did you get an e-mail today about them extending the start date to May 19? Also I went to Lambuth Univ. in Jackson, Tn. Where did you go?

Hello,
I was accepted to the new BSN program as well! Does anyone know what to expect in terms of schedule? Are the clinical days only in the last 7 weeks of the program? Thanks!

Hi BostonRNtobe,

Congrats on being accepted! I'm not sure how the schedule works or how long to actual clinical is. I would hope that it wouldn't be be that far into the semester though. However, its a lot better than waiting 2 years to start clinicals. Where did you attend college?

See you there!

Hey!

I was also admitted to the accelerated BSN program; I got a phone call today bc they were like you still haven't submitted deposit. I am starting ot freak out for a number of reasons:
1. It is expensive. approx 50,000 for tuition alone plus living expenses.
2. I am also applying to direct entry programs..am I wasting my time just getting a BSN? I know I want to become an ACNP in the end or maybe ANP with speciality in Oncology, but I'm just not sure and thats why I thought about the accelerated BSN option.

What do you guys think? Where else did you apply? Are you worried about cost also???? Maytbe I'm crazy but I just bought a car a few months ago and I am currently living at home with my parents just to save money fora year. I could live a thome, but I just don't think its worth it 1. for time and 2. bc its putting a strain on my relationship with my parents.

What do you thinkt?!!?!?!?

Hi Katester,

Congrats on being accepted! The cost is super expensive, but this was the only program where I could get my RN in 14 months and didn't have to take the GRE. So when I put those things together it was my only option.

I (personally) don't think you are wasting your time because in any of the direct entry programs your first 2 years or so are focused on basic RN skills, then from there you focus on your ANP specialty. However, on the otherside of the things, I know someone also pursuing their ANP and she did the direct-entry route. She went full time during the first 2 years, then worked as a RN while finishing her degree part time. There are just so many options when considering this.

I too know your struggle personally. I have a 6 month old daughter that obviously has needs. And I know when I do enter school, I will be unable to work for those 14 months. So when I think I can't afford to do it, I soon realize that I can't afford not to. Luckily the school offered me a pretty generous scholarship. But I will be factoring in living expenses when I apply for a loan.

Where else did you apply?

Anyway, I say definitely do what makes you happy. In the end you are still going to have to pay off something so why not go with your first choice (whatever that may be). Good luck with everything and I hope to see you at MGHIHP!!!! )

Adrienne,

I'm going to MGH as well! Quick question - how did you receive the scholarship? Did you have to apply beforehand? Do you mind sharing how much you received? Financial aid for a 2nd bachelors is tricky. I didn't realize you cannot receive very much federal aid & I don't want private loans. =(

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
