Hey Danielle - Congrats on getting into the program - I was hoping I would be joining you! I hope you and Keke keep us updated on your progress at GLTech - I wish you guys loads of good luck.

Prisi - one positive thought is that maybe by the time we graduate from LPN school the economy will be a bit better and there will be more job opportunities. Ad like Jmaire said - more time to save some cash for the program.

Sawyer- thanks for the update! I agree that waiting the year will just mean we'll be able to save money for next year. I was going to have to take out a loan or get financial aid, but waiting will mean I get to save money and pay out of pocket. Most employers, especially if you're in the healthcare field, will reimburse you for whatever you pay out of pocket...so that's a plus.
In the meantime, experience, experience, experience!!!
I'm a full-time cna now and will, obviously, be keeping my job until school starts at which point I'll switch over to part time.
I'm so bummed that I have to wait another year BUT luckily application time starts in October...right around the corner...and we'll know sooner this time so it'll be fine!

And lastly...one thing that makes me smile and def brightens up my dark moods about this...is that if we want to go ahead and get our RN (I completely do!!!) we can just do an LPN to RN course which aren't as competitive in some cases and will only take about a year itself...no lost time there!! I'm 23 and I'm aiming towards RN by at the very least 26, so time well spent is HUGE for me!!!

Sawyer- Thank you! I failed the December '08 NET on the math section. I was so discouraged but this spring I retook it. I studied day and night to pass it and ended up with a 95, rebound from a 68! I'm disappointed that you won't be in the program with me :-( Possibly a spot will open up soon. Stay Positive! I've been told that the closer it gets to the start date of school a few will drop out. So hopefully you'll get a spot!

Keke- Are you in days or evenings?

Looks like this program will have a significantly broad range of ages within the classes. At the fitting I met a 19 year old who will be on days and a mid-40 year old who will be in the evenings class with me.

To anyone else who got in:
If you didn't buy from Hero's, where did you purchase your uniforms from? Those prices were absurd!

Just popping in to see how everyone is doing... I am going to take the NET the first available testing date and in the meantime try to figure how to work in a health care facility 1 day a week because I couldnt afford to live off a salary less than an LPNs... Keke thank you soooooo much for list of books I really am going to pick them up and do the homework! I could be your study buddy! hahaha I would be so prepared for when I do get in and no stress! I feel this was probably for the better that I didnt get in this year...in the meantime I am stuck at my current job...ew..lol

Jmarie, Sawyer & Prisi~ I am disappointed that the class is full....but I keep hoping that something changes in the next few weeks for you guys. You are all so positive and would be a great asset to the program.

Allwehopefor~ I will also be in the night program. Are you going to the LPN Boot camp in August? As far as the scubs being expensive I have heard that some people get their scrubs up in Nashua at Work N Gear. You might want to call them and price them out. I haven't purchased my scrubs, watch or anything else yet because I just bought the books and they were almost $900.00 with the shipping.!!!! Next week I will go to get the scrubs, watch etc. Look forward to meeting you soon!

Keep in touch everyone and I'll let you know how things go. If someone in the night program drops out or fails out I will let you know. Just hope its not me or Allwehopefor.

Keke- Fantastic! Yes, I will be attending every day of the LPN Bootcamp :-) Work N Gear is pretty pricey too. I use to buy my scrubs from there until I realized how rediculous their prices were and began purchasing from Lydia's online. For tops it's like $3.99 and pants are around $9.99. BARGAIN! I went to Building 19 in Nashua yesterday. They have a slew of scrubs for $3.99 but they weren't 3 pockets. My LNA Health Careers intructor went to GLTS for her LPN so she's looking through her books to see if she has any that are required on our list. I haven't bought my books yet due to a number of reasons. I went to The Book Cellar to see if they had any used textbooks but no luck.

LOL I will definitely NOT be dropping out :-) I need this more than anything to get on my feet. I know I'm not they only one out there, but it's been one hell of a last couple of months making sure I get in there.

And I can't wait to meet you as well!

Just a quick FYI for Jmarie and Sawyer - there's a really good LPN program in Billerica called Shawsheen Valley School of Practical Nursing. I am going to be applying there next year, along with Greater Lowell, just to make my chances of getting in somwhere a little better. Anyway, they seem to have a good rep and they're fully accredited.
So in case you're interested, there you have it! And it's not that far away, I'm not sure where anyone lives, but Tyngsboro and Billerica aren't that great of a distance difference.
They're right around the same price as Lowell Tech, only difference is they have the LNL test...which I guess is alot harder.

Has anyone else heard of this place???

I lived in Billerica. Shawsheen Valley Voc is a great school. My cousin went there years and years ago. And definitely not that far at all!
