I was wondering if we have to take the NET again? And I dont want to ask my references for another letter.....I hope we can just re-apply without doing all that and like you said with an updated resume.

If I dont get in I am going to take the CNA course (I think its only 1 month long). And maybe take a anatomy at a community college so I have a science course to add. I dont know if that will help or not but at least its something. I'm just bummed because I thought for sure with a 99% on the NET that it would show that when I apply myself I can do the work regardless of healthcare experience. I also saw on his sheet that he had that I got 100% on the essay so I just dont know how I can get better scores than that.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!

Hey guys, don't give up hope yet! Why not give them a call and ask if they are still calling people on the wait list? Can't hurt! Did they say how they pick people from the list?

Tuesday is uniform day at GLT and I really am keeping my fingers crossed that I meet the three of you there. They will be selling the uniforms, shoes, watches and stethescopes.

Jmarie~ If you don't get the call and would lilke me to give you the homework assignments and book list, I will do that. If you wanted to buy the books this year I would suggest buying them used. The books cost about $800.00 and I would hate to see you spend that money if they decide to change books next year. But lets just think positive that you are going to get that call this week!

Sawyer~ I think your back up plan is a good one. If you take A&P and get a passing grade of "C" or better then you don't have to take it in the program. That would free up some time to study for the other classes. But again, lets just hope that you get the call this week.

Look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday for uniforms or August 5th (I think) for LPN Boot Camp.

Sawyer- I definately hear you about the NET and the letters.. Im thinking the college transcripts too...it would be a little annoying to have to do that again...I know there is like a 4 week LNA program which is about 7-800 dollars...ill prolly do that they have like 2 different classes I wanna say like every 2 months! So that would work...

keke-haha LPN bootcamp!!
But ya..i would appreciate that soooo much! I know you are going to be extremely busy but I would love it if you could keep me updated...ya Amazon sells books very very cheap so that is what i will do..and if they do change the books it would be ok because the material would be the same...you said you have the list right? just let me know whenever you can- Thanks again!!!
Good luck with the uniform fitting- how exciting! Keep us updated with everything!!!

Im not sure Sawyer if you are in MA or NH but this is the site I was talking about...

www.lnahealthcareers.com

There are different towns and different times- I am definately going to do this.. they also have job placement assistance..but it is $1400 BUT when you get your job doesnt matter if full, part,or perdiem you get reimbursed by the state-100% so it costs up front but you get it all back!!

They have a site in Nashua which is the one I am looking to do- Not sure about which one to do though... If you think you would be interested in this please let me know so I can be in the same class as you!

Ok hope everyone is having a nice weekend!!!

hey everyone!!

I haven't gotten any calls nor have I heard anything yet either. I did call on Thursday and left him a voice mail just asking of they've started picking people up from the waiting list...like a status update kinda thing. However, I've yet to get a call back. I will definitely be calling him again tomorrow morning first thing, and if I get no response I'll call the secretary. I REALLY want to know how things are going because I dont want to wait around for something that may or may not happen. My life is literally on hold because I can take one of two roads right now...preferably the lpn road!!!
I've been working full time as a cna for the past month at a nursing home and as much as I seriously LOVE it thus far, I dont want to wait another year to begin classes. And I dont want to get a cna salary for another year either. It's very limiting. And while it'd be stupid not to re-apply next year, I kinda dont want to go through the headache again.
And yes, for those who asked, I asked during the interview and he did say that you go through the entire application process again! Meaning another NET, an updated resume and three more letters of reference! See what I mean!!!! Soooo don't need the headache AGAIN!!!

Anyway, I'm sending everyone good vibes and good thoughts and as soon as I hear anything from anyone from Greater Lowell I will surely post!!!

Best Wishes!

Hi Guys.... Jmarie - I was thinking of the CNA at the Red Cross - I live on the North Shore of MA and I believe they have a course in Peabody. But if I do that I will just work as a CNA for 1 day a week or so and keep my day job because I couldnt get by on just a CNA salary, but it will be a good experience and good for the resume.

Keke...how exciting about the scrub fitting! I am sure I will not be there tho. That list of books is long!!!

Prisi - I sent an email last week thanking him for meeting with me and informing him I was on the waitlist and that I was still hopeful but I didnt call - I am not sure if that seems pushy or not - Its like I want him to know I really want to get in but I dont want him to be like - Oh this girl wont stop pestering me! But maybe I will leave a voicemail - I just hope theu dont leave us hanging!!!! I feel like I am on hold too - its just so frustrating.

And it stinks that we have to go thru the whole shebang again. My one little sliver of hope is that girl you met at Middlesex Prisi, who said that everyone waitlisted last year got in. But then I second guess myself saying that the economy is so bad that those who do get in may just stay even if they dont have the money cause nurses will be in demand when this recession is over.

Another thing.....do any of you guys know anything about Quincy College? On their website it said that they have rolling admissions for their LPN program - altho I think its twice the price of GL Tech and the full time program is days but if thats all I can get than I'm gonna have to go for it. I might call them tomorrow to ask a few questions

A rolling admission isn't always a good thing. Sure you're guaranteed acceptance to the program once you've completed an application, but they do have a waiting list. And since everyone gets in their waiting lists go on for years...literally. Middlesex has a two and half year long waiting list for their RN program because of the rolling admission thing. Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill doesnt have a rolling admission but they're program isn't as competitive either. And they cost less per credit.
Another thing is that with community colleges they require that you complete prereqs that are required for admission...Lowell Tech doesnt have that which, to me, is a huge plus because you dont have to take extra time. They're application process compared to a community college is alot shorter and a whole lot easier.
Not to mention the TEASE test that you have to take at community colleges which includes a science part! Vocational schools only require the NET, which wasn't at all hard!!

Hi I am on the wait list for middlesex cc evening rn program. I have to wait until sept 2010 or maybe 2011 which stinks. At mcc you do not have to talk the teas test. Mcc has the cpt test which is math reading and writing. It is a little hard. U have to get certain grades for rn program. I took the math for nurses test which I passed. It was easy for me but the algebra on the cpt was hard. I will wait to get in though, I know its long. Its the only school available for nite classes so I can work during the day. I
live in danvers though and I have a long ride.
