- Oct 28, '11 by AggoDaggoI had my interview on Friday (21st). I'm in the same boat... the anticipation is killing me. The day of my interview, they told me they would probably let us know within 2 weeks. How long was your interview? I was very surprised by how brief mine was... only 3 questions. Plus, I had to complete the writing sample AFTER my interview as apposed to prior.
- Oct 28, '11 by AggoDaggoAll I could think about was how I answered the interview questions, whether or not I added filler, my posture, etc. and had a very difficult time getting past it during the first half of my writing sample. Not to mention that the phone in the room began to ring while writing. Very unnerving! In regard to the actual interview, she told me that it would be brief, but I was still surprised how brief. If anyone else is going through this process, please respond.Last edit by AggoDaggo on Oct 28, '11

Hey! Yeah, I was very surprised at how brief my interview was as well. I had 3 questions, same as you, and it lasted maybe 4 minutes. I, however, had my interview via tele as I am out of state. She sent my writing sample via email and I had to return it within 20 minutes. I am very excited about getting into the program. I wasn't told that we should know within 2 weeks though. I just figured by Nov 15. Best of luck to ya... Did you apply to any other schools?
Look forward to seeing other post about their experiences during this process.Last edit by mlh0283 on Oct 29, '11 - Oct 29, '11 by AggoDaggoQuote from mlh0283My interview couldn't have lasted more than 5 or 6 minutes. I haven't applied to any other schools yet, since this was one of the few that started in the spring. I had been looking at ABSN programs and was not aware of the direct entry Masters option until it was too late for other schools starting in January. I live out of state as well, but have family who live in Baltimore, so it worked out pretty well. I've spent a lot of time thinking about exactly how many people were actually interviewed versus how many spots are available and I think the chances of getting in, if you had an interview, are pretty good. I've heard that there are 50-60 spots and there couldn't have been more than 80-100 people interviewed (a high estimate). With an interview that brief, they have probably already made up there minds about most. They probably just want to make sure you actually are what you say you are according to your resume. UM is my first choice because of its ranking nationally, not to mention I don't want to wait until May or August to start a program. The deadlines are after January, so I have plenty of time to get them in. Good luck to you too! Maybe its like asking how much someone makes, but I really am curious about other candidate's GPAs... Do you have any other thoughts you want to share?AggoDaggo,

yeah it's nerve wrecking to wait. I had my interview with Fran Valle on 10/20 @ 1pm. She initially told me it would be a very short interview-said she had about 5 questions for me. Well, I shared my experiences with her, she had a lot of personal questions for me (mainly coz of my background) and she shared quite a bit w/me too. Not 2 say the least, I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, because it seems as if everyone had a very short interview.
I got there earlier than was scheduled, got interviewed early, and left UMSON around 1:30p
Ps. I noticed on one of her already interviewed candidates' papers that, she gave them an "E". I can't help but wonder, if that was rated up or down.
Anyways, all we have to do is wait. Any plan Bs? - Oct 29, '11 by AggoDaggoMay I ask what your background was? Just curious. My interview was with Dr. Lemaire. I felt like it went pretty well. Again, I think with interviews that short, they already have a fairly good idea of what you're about. As far as plan B's, there are a ton of grad programs that start in the fall I will be applying to if not accepted.
- Oct 29, '11 by Spydarwebwell, for one, am originally from ..... & it was just all about our healthcare syst, and my family experiences that shaped my desire to go into the field. not that she was unclear, she seemed intrigued about the things i was sharing with her-one question led to another. apparently, there were couple things i gave her a closure to as per our culture and migration to here. most of the things we talked about weren't very related to the 'scripts'. the interview proper was pretty short per se.
as 4 plan bs i actually have applications in for other grad progs against sp2012.Last edit by Spydarweb on Oct 29, '11 - Oct 29, '11 by AggoDaggoOh I see. I'm sure its a very intriguing story. I wish you the best of luck! Have you been accepted to other programs or heard anything in regard to them?
