Register Today!- Aug 9, '10 by KamTjamHi everyone! Have any of you taken BI101 instead of BI55? I am registered for 101 this fall, but I'm worried it is going to be really tough.
- Aug 9, '10 by JustanotherdayNope, I took BI55 because, it is cheaper (they charge for 3 credits instead of 4), and it has no lab, so is less time consuming to take. My class was 1 hour 15 min twice a week. Boom. Done. The book used in BI55 is the same as BI101 but with the chapters removed that they don't use (like on plants). The publisher prints a version specific to FCC. They really tailor the class to Allied Health students. The website that accompanies the book was very helpful.
Why do you want to take 101? - Aug 10, '10 by KamTjamQuote from Mama2fiveboysI wanted to take BI101 because I was looking forward to the lab. I just switched to BI55 for once a week. It fits a lot better with my schedule. Thanks for the reply!Nope, I took BI55 because, it is cheaper (they charge for 3 credits instead of 4), and it has no lab, so is less time consuming to take. Why do you want to take 101? - Aug 10, '10 by JustanotherdayIf you were looking forward to the lab, I bet you will enjoy A & P and Microbiology. Hope BI55 works out as well for you as it did me. It was a challenge but very interesting.
- Aug 29, '10 by TerpGal02I think BI 55 is a better choice than taking BI 101 or CH 101. Remember, BI 55 was MADE for people going on to take A&P and Micro. BI 55 for all intents and purposes was the 2nd chapter of my A&P book. Really helps clarify things when you move on.
- Aug 31, '10 by jenniepaigeOh no, it's the second AND most of the third chapter. Yea. Learn it well now to save yourself the extra hours in A&P. I started last week and I'd say it's at least 15/hrs per week. It's redic. And I think the lab is actually harder than the lecture.
- Sep 1, '10 by JustanotherdayI'm in BI 103 now, too. I'm very thankful that BI 55 is still pretty fresh in my mind from this past spring! I was originally going to do BI 120 but a slot opened up for 103 after they dropped students for nonpayment so I switched. Very glad I did.
- Sep 1, '10 by KamTjamBI-55 does seem to be really helpful to me right now! I don't remember much from high school bio or chem so the pace is good for me.

- Sep 2, '10 by TerpGal02Quote from Mama2fiveboysGood idea. I think EVERYONE should take A&P before Micro. By the time you get to micro, a LOT of the things they cover in micro you will have heard before in A&P (cell structure, transport, cellular metabolism, etc) I also like to save the best for last, and for me, micro was SO SO much fun!I'm in BI 103 now, too. Good luck with A&P 1 girls! I remember how scared I was going into that class, turns out it wasnt so bad. Just do your readings, study up on your lab stuff. IMO A&P 1 was more memorizing and A&P 2 was more concepts. Memorizing all those muscles and bones............UGGGG! But now thinking back to how A&P was and how Med/Surg 1 is this semester.............makes me laugh really. Its a whole other level. You think that's hard.............LOL! Pay attention in A&P gals, trust me, you WILL see this stuff again! We did our class on respiratory problems and I was like, "Yeah, I seem to remember that from A&P". Save your books! Very helpful if you need a refresher, cause the nursing instuctors wont go in depth on refreshing you. You already took A&P, they expect you to know it.
