Has anyone else applied?...what were your TEASE scores?

Thanks I will try not to worry too much. Its just that so many things are going on at once and I need some sort of confirmation in a timely manner.

I applied. Got a 92% on TEAS, but my GPA sucks. It's said committee ready for about a month now. Hopefully we all get in.

Hey all. I applied for UMDs BSN too :) Just trying to get some feed back from students that are already in the program. One of my best friends is getting married in Feb. and I'm supposed to be in the wedding. It would seem that I need to take a Friday off from class. How feasible is this in your opinion? It is the only day I foresee myself needing to take off. I understand that after you miss a day you need to work twice as hard to catch up, but my questions is more on the side of do teachers/instructors/the schedule make it possible to even take a day off?

P.S. I know I'm kind of putting the horse before the cart here, but I need tell my friend I can't be in her wedding ASAP before dress fittings in the event that I do (hopefully) get into the program.

Hi GreyLady,

I am in UMCP finishing up my BS in Psych and I already fulfilled my prereqs; is it true that if i get a C in ANY class (no matter what it is) they will take back your acceptance?

:uhoh3:

I think it is okay as long as the C isnt in one of the prereqs required for the nursing program.

yea that's what heard and hopefully its true because i think i have 1 c in spanish

anyone heard anything? I know someone before said we all probably wouldn't hear until November...the wait is killing me!

same here im excited but nervous at the same time...i think i got in though im trying to stay positive

I applied too! I am not sure if you all applied for the same program though. I applied for the online RN-BSN program starting in Spring 2011! I agree with everyone else that we probably won't hear anything until after November. I am wondering if I do get accepted, will I still be able to work full-time in the hospital (5, 8 hour shifts) and complete this one year, full-time program as well? I wonder if anyone has done it.

All of the RNs I know in the program at Shady Grove do work full time but none that I know of have tried to complete the program in one year. Community health for example requires two days: one for lecture and another for clinical. Nothing is impossible but I know of more than a few that started and did not finish because it was more involved than they were expecting. The only thing I can tell you is that when you plan your schedule, if you are planning to take classes in the summer, find out which ones are likely to be offered. Some summer classes fill up quickly and I am not sure if RN to BSN students get preferential placement or not so you need to find that out. Core classes that have a clinical component such as Community Health are only offered in the fall and spring. Hope this helps. If you send me a private message I will try and find an RN to BSN student you can communicate with directly.

I applied to BSN for spring 2011 but i will be working part time regardless I think it's gonna be a lot of stress trying to juggle school and a full time job. But that's just me some other people may be able to handle it

I know very few students who have attempted full time school and a full time job and very few of them, if any, were able to pull it off. The vast majority had to either drop classes or go part time. Even working part time is a challenge. Please make sure your employer is really flexible and understands the rigors and demands of nursing school. Also, your schedule will change from one semester to the next and there are both occasional extra required events and events you will want to participate in which do pop up. You will also need an understanding family who is prepared to be a great support system for you. I don't intend to scare you but that is the reality. Best of luck.
