UMB Spring 2010 Applicants (BSN or CNL)

U.S.A. Maryland

After following the Fall '09 thread with great interest, I thought it might be time to start a new thread for the Spring '10 applicants since we're inching closer to the Sep 1 deadline. I have a technical question for those who have applied before. I submitted my CNL application online this morning and paid the $50 and now it seems like my application has slipped into a vortex that I don't have access to. When I log onto SURFS to check my status, the only option that it gives me is to submit a new application. Is there somewhere else on the website that I should be looking to confirm that my application has been submitted and is pending review or awaiting additional information (transcripts, recommendations, etc)? Perhaps there is a delay between when the application is submitted and when the status is visible?

Best of luck to all the other applicants...now the agonizing waiting game begins! Looking forward to giving each other support and encouragement on this thread.

Just got the email from the the school telling me that a decision on my application will be rendered by the first week in November!!!! Did anybody get the same email? it will be a looong time to wait!

Yes, I got that too. I seriously doubt it will be that long. I think they tell everyone that just so they can take longer if they need it. I am seriously hoping I will hear by October at the latest! UGH :anbd:

Wow really guys. What program did you apply to (BSN or CNL)???

I applied to the CNL program.

I applied to CNL too!

I just got the same e-mail. I applied to BSN.

"Thank you for your application to the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Your application file is complete. At this time there are no further documents required. A thorough review of your application will be completed by a faculty committee.

A decision on your application will be rendered by the first week in November. Decisions will be posted online and letters will be mailed at that time."

Do you guys think the date is being pushed to nov. instead of mid oct. b.c maybe there is a greater number of applicants than expected?

i got thesame email too...it is really goin to be the longest wait of my life!!!...nd i applied to the BSN program...nd i think i did poorly on my net but everything other than that is great. Do u guyz think that wld disqualify me  i'm scared

scrub- i dont think they pushed the date because there is more applications to review, i think it gives them a little bit more time to get a better picture of who they will have in the class. if they send out the first round of acceptance letters and a bunch of people say they have already accepted at another school, then they are going to have to fill in those spaces with other students. i think the november deadline is probably to make sure that they are able to send out acceptance letters, hear back, and then send out more if needed. in this way it could be looked at as a good thing.....good luck!

i got that letter too, and yet, somehow i can't stop checking my SURFS website. i just want to know...that would be fantastic!:typing

I called and flat out asked WHY it's November and the former answer was correct.... they want to know the entire applicant pool- apparently Sept 1st was a 'loose' deadline... so they're letting stuff trickle in from 'highly' qualified applicants that were slow... haha great. I don't know how long they will give you to send in the $400 deposit to claim your spot when accepted for the traditional applicants. But right now they are sealing slots for the applicants from College Park that were granted guaranteed admission.

What do you mean by "they're letting stuff trickle in from 'highly" qualified applicants that were slow"?

i am applying from a community college where the majority of my nursing prereqs came from and some other prereqs came from another attended school. i was wondering if it is silly to have rsvped to go to the open house on october 3rd. i know i prob. won't be accepted by then (hopefully i won't have a rejection  letter by then...ouch :bluecry1:)

anyways, should i cancel on the open house if i haven't received an acceptance letter by oct 3rd

i'm starting to think now that it might be a bit awkward if i'm there and haven't gotten in...

although i do have valid questions that i would like to ask current students, such as, is there a certain method you suggest in buying books or which classes do you suggest i take the 1st semester". i would prefer to not get accepted last second and have no clue on how to 'get ready or prep'.

my application is still sitting on "complete ready for review" and i received that email too saying all my documents were in....

thank you!
