Question about Howard Community College program

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hi,

I had a question about the selection process for the RN program at HCC. I want to apply for the evening/weekend program in September when they start taking applications again. I am worried because I don't have the greatest GPA. I started out majoring in business and did a horrible job in my classes before I decided to switch to what I really want to do which is nursing. I have done well with the science courses completed the prereqs but unfortunately my GPA is pretty low still (2.3). So my question is do they base admission into the program on your GPA at all? I took the entrance exam and passed and I my GPA is above the required 2.0. I made some mistakes when i started school but don't want that to hold me back. So if anyone has any advice on this please let me know. I really want to apply this year.

I would definitely speak to an advisor in the nursing program. They would be able to give you accurate and straightforward information.

I'm pretty sure you've seen this but just in case you haven't, these are the minimum RN program entrance requirements from HCC's website:

Okay, thanks for the advice and the link. I have met all of the requirements (gpa is just pretty low). I plan on going to meet with an advisor sometime this week. Thanks again.
