Mount St. Mary's ABSN 2011 applicants

U.S.A. Maryland

Applying to MSMC's 2011 absn program? Yeah, me too. Just wanted to hearing from others in the same boat.

If you can sign up for the Taylor class, TAKE THE TAYLOR CLASS! I did it in about 6 weeks. I ended up leaving work a week earlier than originally planned to get the last paper done, but it was worth it.

I still have my books, but not sure if you will the same ones or not. Let me know and I'll give you a good deal on them if they are the same.

I signed up for the class online. I wish I would have seen your response earlier, but I bought the books used through Amazon already. Thanks for the offer though.

Also- if the room is still available can you email me more details about it? [email protected] Thx Sugarlips!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Since StudentNurseLA is allergic to cats I still have a room available that is close to school. So if anyone is needing to move closer to school, please let me know if you are interested. Also, when you guys go to do your math test/uniform fitting if you could pass the word to your fellow classmates I'd appreciate it.

Good luck! 9 more weeks? Enjoy your summer!

Can any current students give us incoming students some recommendations on how many sets of uniforms/clothing we should get? We are getting fitted the day of the exam and we must also pay the same day. The price list provided includes:

Button Tops w/ school logo $20

Pants $17

Lab Coats w/ school logo $24

Polar Fleece w/ school logo $40

Tailoring $3

Embroider School Logo $6

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:)

I would say 3 sets is perfect. 2 isn't quite enough... Especially since first semester you have clinicals 3 days in a row so to avoid doing laundry every other day, get 3 sets. You're required to buy the lab coat, but the fleece and there's also a white zip up hoodie that's optional. I bought the polar fleece because it's comfortable, but just remember you can't wear it on the unit during clinicals..just before, after, and during lunch. And yes, you pay the same day.. I think they only take cash or checks.

Thank you very much Yukikon! So we should just get 1 polar fleece, 1 lab coat, and 3 sets of uniforms? Do you also know the difference between the clothing with the school logo vs. The embroidered logo? Thanks again for taking the time to answer these questions. :)

Yes, that's what I purchased - I think it's best to start off with 3 sets.. if you need more, you could probably always order later. The school logo automatically comes with the tops and lab coat.. the embroidery is just to have "Mt. Saint Mary's College" stitched onto the lab coat I believe.. I didn't know about it when I had my uniform fitting, but honestly I think it's just a waste of money.

Thank you so much! I have to register for classes right now. Any suggestions on professors?

Nursing 41, 44A/B, 42A/B, 45A/B.

Thanks!

I think another one of your cohort members emailed me about the professor thing but you don't have an option of choosing professors even though it seems like it when u register. Everyone will have the same professors, with the exception of clinicals but you will be divided into groups and assigned instructors.

I applied to Mt St Marys ABSN program and was denied. I just got accepted into BSN program and I cant be more excited! Right now one of the main things Im excited about is that the whole program only costs $18,000, compared to MSM's $56,000+!!! Its going to cost more like $60,000-$65,000 counting gasoline, wear and tear, interest rates on loans, etc etc., ouch!! I've already saved for more than the entire program, so I wont have any monthly payments for the next 5-20 years after I graduate. I know MSM is a very respected program, and they turn out excellent nurses, but come on.... over $60,000!! I'll be doing my rotations at Cedar Sinai, I dont know if MSM uses them, if so I may see some of you there!

Good for you.. how long is the Governors University BSN program?

Its two years.

Its two years.

Hi I've been following your thread..Did MSMC say why you didn't get in? If you don't mind me asking.. I am interested in the reasons.

Thanks in advance!

Natalie
