Notice of Impending Denial of Licensure/Certification Due to Tax Delinquency

During the past legislative session, the Maryland General Assembly decreed that the Maryland State Boards and Commissions, including the Maryland Board of Nursing (the "Board"), may not renew licenses or certificates where the licensee or certificate-holder is delinquent in payment of taxes to the State of Maryland. Please note that the Board of Nursing has no discretion in this matter and is not authorized to make exceptions to the law passed by the General Assembly.

]You are hereby advised to contact the Comptroller at 410-974-2432 immediately to arrange for payment of your tax deficiency. Lovely. So if you can't afford the already absurdly high taxes, your access to income will be taken from you.

It may not be debtors prison, but it's the next best thing! :banghead: Nobody else is losing their jobs from delinquent taxes, why don't they garnish wages like every other job instead of singling out licensed professionals who aleady paid fees on top of their taxes to work? Then give the governing board no say or power? Ouch.
