hey guys,

im a nurse from germany, knowing that my degree wouldnt be accepted to work as a RN in a hospital in USA, I'm looking for other possibilities.

I would like to get experience in "hospital live" in america, maybe thinking about to move to usa to become a RN.

Anyway.

Life is expensive, so I'm looking for a hospital who can gimme a room and maybe getting a bit of money for food.

I know from a german friend that some hospitals offering something like that, but I have no idea.

if u got any information, pls let my know, eventually as private message.

I have not heard of any hospitals around here providing room and board for employees. Are you trying to find a position such as that of an aid or tech?

I have never heard of such a thing.

First, to work for any compensation, you would have to have a work permit allowing you to do so in the USA....something that is not that easy to do with the current economy.

And pretty much all USA positions would require some type of license or certification, along with working papers or proof of US citizenship. Those would be hard to get in this economy.

Few to no hospitals here have their own housing and most of those that do, reserve it for residents/interns/licensed nurses, and most have long waiting lists. They do not generally provide housing for nonlicensed positions. And it would be very very very difficult to get a licensed position/permit to work in a licensed position currently.

A number of years ago, some facilities did indeed "import" nurses and helped them temporarily while they got licensed and started out, back when it was difficult to find nurses domestically, before ICE cracked down on blatant violations of the H1B/GC status, and before retrogression. Those times are very much past.

Perhaps you need to ask your friends where and when they got this information and they can direct you?

Even if you would apply to come here now -- it looks like it would take a very long time until you can start working here. Priority date is now August 15, 2003. So people who had applied at that time will be the next to get a work permit. Germany would be located under employment based 3rd.

Also, I don't know if you have what it takes to have your license be transferred to the US. Maybe just paperwork etc is all that you need. And you can get things started But if it goes slow like it does know there is no way of telling when you will be getting your H1B to get here.

Good luck

Andrea
