I'm a coppin nursing student. You haven't heard from them yet because you didn't pass the NET. I'm not sure if they send a letter if you don't get accepted for a school year. I'm a junior nursing student and I remember getting my acceptance letter in june or july the year I entered the program. I haven't heard about them changing to a two year curriculum yet (it's currently 3 years for the nursing program). If you did good on the TEAS at CCBC then you will probably do good on it again if you reapply for Coppin. Good luck
Thanks for the info...this year it seemed like they were pretty late with everything. They didn't start testing until June and had dates available through the end of July! But I applied to CCBC to start in Spring 2010. I feel like if I get in by the grace of God, I should just accept my seat there and do RN to BSN later. I just want to start as soon as possible but at the same time, if I could knock the BSN out at the same time, that would definately be a better choice. I liked Coppin, but I felt like they are so disorganized...there were times where I felt like I was processing my application. The good thing was once you brought something to their attention, they would fix it immediately.
Also, how good/bad is their financial aid office? I used to work with this one girl that goes there(she is not in the nursing program) but I remember her telling me in January, when she was about to start the spring semester that she still hadn't gotten her refund check from the fall! I will be relying on loans to pay bills like my car note and other living expenses(I'm assuming I won't be able to work very much while I'm in the program)...and I don't have any help from family or anything so I will be relying on that refund check to get by. I don't think it would be feasable for me to wait 4 months for a refund check.

I can honestly tell you from my experience that Coppin is disorganized. Part of that disorganization is because they are trying to develop an action plan for having the lowest nclex scores for a second year in a row. But I would strongly urge you to reapply for next fall if you want to get your BSN. If you go to CCBC and then do RN-BSN at Coppin or another university it's going to get very expensive for you. RNs that return to school to get their BSN don't get financial aid (they don't even qualify for most loans) because of their income. You'll either be paying out of pocket or if your employer has tuition reimbursement you can use that. It's worth it going straight for the BSN.

You can send me a email. I don't think you have to have a certain number of posts to send an email. I haven't gotten around to starting a facebook account yet. Once in nursing school you'll find you won't have time for a lot of things.

I just got accepted to the university, Coppin State and hopefully I get accepted to their Fall nursing program. Hopefully the school is good and if not I will just make the most of it. Good Luck in your decision.

I called Coppin the other day and asked if they were going to be using something other than the NET this year. When I called the first time a lady told me that they were going to use something else (I am going to assume the TEAS) but when I called the other day to confirm which they were going to use a lady said the NET. I read somewhere on here that the NET was bought out by some company so I told her this. She insisted they were stilling using the NET. So idk. I also heard that they were going to a 2 year program. I wonder if it starts next Fall or what. They should start excepting people in the Spring and/or start an evening/weekend program like CCBC Essex.

I am a graduate of Coppin state class of 09.. Yes the scores are bad for the class of 2008.... But as far as my class the score is actually 92% ish. this won't be posted until next Jun 2010. The scores are always a yr behind. Coppin is an excellent school!! I find myself out shining other nursing students from other schools. Coppin doesn't spoon feed you nothing you have to go out and seek it. I am thankful for that because now on the unit if i dont know something i go and seek the answer myself and don't panic!!! Every school has its ups and downs...

FYI i would go for my BSN anyway! A lot of hospitals in the area that are magnet won't hire a AA degree nurse. Food for thought!
