CNA Programs in MD for pre-nursing student?

U.S.A. Maryland

Does anyone know of any good CNA/GNA training programs in MD? I am dying to get into nursing and have finished my prereqs this past year at community college. I want to apply to a nursing school for next fall and I'm thinking of doing a GNA training program this summer so as not to waste time and to get healthcare experience. Right now I'm not working and would like to start with entry-level work now that I have more time. Are there any GNA programs anyone could recommend? And how easy or difficult is it to find a CNA or GNA job? I checked the mbon list of certified programs, but I'm not sure which to pick. I'm thinking of registering for a program with NurseOne Inc. in Lanham. It is a 4-week program and the company rep said they help you look for a job. Has anyone heard of this program and do they prepare you well for the GNA exam? Any advice or experience with this would be appreciated!

It depends on where you live. My community college offers a good program. I'm sure yours does as well.

Did you enroll in a community college cna course? I've been looking around and it seems like perhaps the advantage with doing it at community college is getting help with job placement...? I don't think I'm a total idiot and have taken several science courses, so I'm hoping I can pass the gna test alright.

Yes I did. I was enrolled in Harford Community College's CNA course for the summer but got into their nursing program last minute. I think it runs from around mid July to late August. the content of a CNA course is not going to be tough. It's mainly the client interaction during clinical that may be a little nerve racking;)
