There is something I know as the 2 + 2 program where students at College Park and one or two other universities with whom there is an agreement with UMB are, upon application and meeting the requirements at the beginning of or before the freshman year, including a minimum GPA which must be maintained for two years, are guaranteed a seat in the school of nursing. These seats are extremely limited in number and really don't have any impact on any one in the applicant pool's chances of admission and that includes yours.

Hi all! I also applied for the CNL program to begin Jan. 2010. Does anyone know how many applicants they accept?

CNL class sizes have been 50 to 60. I have not heard about any change for spring 2010.

We will be accepting 50 - 60 BSN students at the Shady Grove campus and 80 - 90 at the Baltimore campus. In terms of your chances of being admitted, it does not matter which campus you applied for - that is not a consideration. All applicants for BSN are ranked 1 to 130 or so and offers are extended. As each one is accepted, that spot on that campus is filled and they go to the next one. If they get to you and your campus is filled they will offer you the other one. There is no way of knowing which one will fill first but if you are worried about that you might want to hand carry your contract and your deposit to Baltimore. That is just a suggestion - if you can't do that I would call the Admissions Office and ask them what is the fastest way you can nail down your spot. Maybe they will accept a scan of your contract and check or take a credit card over the phone - but I don't know for sure.

I won't know that for quite a while. Typically we get 3 to 4 applicants for every seat and spring tends to be less. This really is not going to tell you anything because there are a number of students who will be rejected out right for not meeting the minimum requirements - nobody can know how many for a while yet. And nobody knows what effect the economy is going to have on the number of applicants.

I do work for UMB School of Nursing at the Shady Grove campus and I love it! Don't expect me to be unbiased about my campus - I am unabashedly proud of it. I will be attending the Open House in Baltimore on Oct. 3 - they will give me a little table. Come say hi, I would love to meet you all!
