I honestly dont plan on accepting a postion until I have graduated. I am going to interview at basically any hospital willing to interview me. I am too nervous that I will make that wrong descision or overlook a certain thing about the hospital. I am going to look at many factors before I accept a position. I don't want to make a commitment too early and end up regretting it.

people do interview before nov and dec. but that is not to be ur main worry right now. you would have to worry abt the 2 semesters you have before you graduate.

its always nice to have a job at hand but then would they give you time off to study and pass your NCLEX or would you be required to work immediately you graduate. What i have found out is that some people who owrk before they pass the boards do not pass because they have less time to study for it. And sometimes what you see on teh floor might influence ur choice on the exam which is book based. Just my 2 cents

Thanx 4 answering, but I already work as a tech so I kinda know to answer by the book. I actually didn't think about if the jobs would be willing to give time off to study for nclex.

I graduated from AACC in May 2007. I started applying for jobs in the end of January beginning of February. Some hospitals by that time had already posted, interiewed for and accpted job offers for those position, those positions were then closed. Most hospitals were just starting the hiring process for the May grads at that time. Harbor hospital at that time had the latest dated for posting new grad postions, with them not posting until April.

90% of my class had accepted job offers by April. Those that waited until after graduation and passing the nclex found job hunting difficult. Or so I heard from the grape vine. This was back in the time that every hospital was hunting for new grads. That having multiple job offers were common. That sign on bonuses was no unheard off, even for new grads. That time is gone, very very gone.

A lot of hospitals are in a near hiring freeze. Accepting very limited numbers of new grads. My advice to you is to call the HR departments in the surronding hospitals. Ask them when they will be posting jobs for new grads for the summer 2010 positions. If they tell you December, then start looking on their web site every day in December and as soon as you see it posted, apply. The early bird most definantly gets the worm in this situation.

That said, make sure your resume is up to date and professional looking. Talk to your professors about getting references. Good luck in job hunting.
