Johns Hopins Accelerated BSN

Hello everyone,

I am applying to JHU's accelerated BSN program. I am wondering if anyone can offer any insight into how competitive the admissions process is, what GRE scores are considered good, etc.

Also, if anyone is/was enrolled in the program, any insider information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Stacy

I applied and got into their traditional BSN program, but for their accerlated BSN I don't think you need to take the GRE or if they require your scores because it is a bachelors degree.... No matter where you apply it is going to be competitive.... Right good essays.... I talked to someone who worked there and they said to right about humanitarian stuff you have done.... I turned down JHU for UMB though

I don't think that you need the GRE for the ABSN program at JHU. I believe you only need the GRE if you plan on doing the combined BSN/MSN program.

I would recommend participating in one of their regular chat sessions that they host. I have found these sessions to be very helpful. Admissions advisors are in the chat room and can probably answer a lot questions that you may have.

Hi there,

Yeah, I'll still be doing Micro in the Spring, but everything else will be taken care of this semester.

What is your degree in? What field are you in now?

Arizona, huh? my husband and I actually thought of moving there. We're in NYC now, but I would not be too sad to find a warmer home.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I've sent my application in, but I'd be happy to give you any input, if you can tell me specifically which question/topic/etc. you are having difficulties with.

Are you aplying for the Summer 2010 cohort? Are you in the Baltimore area right now?

I am currently in NYC, but JHU is my first choice school. Do you have any indication of how difficult it is to get accepted? I am anxiously awaiting word, and I really don't know if I even have a chance!

I look forawrd to hearing from you, and good luck!

Hey Stacy!
I will be applying for both the traditional and accelerated program. Have you spoken to anybody in both programs to get an idea of the pace?? I would love to finish in 13mths but don't know if I can hang with the pace. Im really stressing over the essay topics. The one Im stuck on is critical skills question. What situation did you talk about? I know people get touchy about their personal essay but I just just a general idea without any specifics. You can personally email me if you'd like.
I'm in the westcoast and dont mind relocating at all. JHU is too good to pass up!

Ihaven't spoken to anyone at JHU who is doing the traditional program, since I am only interested in the accelerated programs. I'm living in NYC now, and have also applied to Columbia, but the atmosphere and internation focus of JUH's mission are much more attractive to me, since I am looking to pursue a carrer as a research nurse in HIV prevention studies.

My critical thinking skills essay was built around the idea that on'e character is built upon daily actions/decision-making. I applied this to a specific ethical dilema I had encountered in the workplace. Critical thinking can encompass any number of decision-making spheres, whether it be interpersonal conflict resolution, etchical conundrums, etc. I think that your answer should provide an example, possibly from an academic or professional environment, when you made a decision which helped to build your character.

I don't know if that is at all clearer, but I hope it has helped. :-)

By the way, would you mind telling me a bit more about yourself???

Take care,

Stacy
