Congrats to all who got accepted for this fall! I recently just applied to AACC for spring 2010. Can anyone tell me how long does it take for AACC to let you know wheter or not you've been accepted for that following term? Also were any of you put on a waiting list? Any information that you can share with me will be extremely helpful because I am so eagerly to get started so that I can finally pursue my dreams. Thanks.

The deadline for the fall applicants was Mar 15th. I recdeived my " you've been placed on the waitlist" letter around the first week in June. I attended the initial orientation and was taken off the waitlist within 30 minutes of being at the orientation ( Praise God). I would just brush up on your main prerequisites ( A&P II, Microbiology, Chemistry). Reading books on critical thinking and test-taking for nurses would also be helpful. If you get an acceptance letter or waitlist letter, make sure you attend the orientation and make sure your vaccinations are up to date. I applied to AACC and HCC. I was waitlisted for both schools. Then later on, I was accepted by both schools and turned down HCC. I hope this was helpful. If you are meant to be a nurse, you will get in.

I applied for spring 2010 too! I've read lots of discouraging info on here tho. last semester they took nothing below a 3.5? sheesh. I'd love to know when I can expect my letter...although, I already have a fairly good idea of what it's going to say. looks like i'll be retaking some courses in the spring and reapplying for fall. it's soo frustrating!! Good luck to you!!

HI NicoleM1126,

Thanks For your response. I just got my acceptance letter from CCBC in Catonsville for Spring 2010. My currrent GPA is 3.2 so if AACC wants a 3.5, I guess that's why I haven't heard anything from them yet. I don't know why GPA is so high and it's only a community college. I applied at CCBC and got in on the first try. Word of advice, If I were you, I wouldn't depend just on one school, but submit applications to different schools that you're eligible for. I sent applications out to 3 different school, and CCBC was the first to send me an acceptance letter. I don't know where you live, or how far you are willing to drive, but here are some more schools that I thoroughly researched and these are the requirements and the prerequisites that you need to apply:

CCBC (Community College of Baltimore County) - A&P1, and 2, Microbiology. GPA 2.5, TEAS exam- recommended score for reading is 90%, and overall composite score is 70 %. Located in Catonsville off 95 exit 46 or 47, 10 to 15 minutes from Columbia, Md.

Montgomery College, A&P1, 2, Microbiolgy, GPA, 2.5 TEAS exam- Recommended score for reading is 85%, and overall score is composite score is 70%. Located in Tacoma Park,Md. 30 minutes from Laurel or Columbia

BCCC (Baltimore City Community College)- A &P 1,2, Microbiology, and chemistry. Baltimore, Liberty Rd.

So Good luck, and stay optimistic, God has your back and has a plan for you.Remember what you put out there in the universe will determine your fate, so always maintain positive energy, and good things will happen!

Warmest Regards,

Hello alynn.Lee!!

Would you believe I just got done praying? seriously lol It's true!!

What i meant about AACC not accepting anything below a 3.5 was that 3.5 was the lowest they had to take to fill the class. You only need a 2.0 to apply...but you won't get accepted. I believe they take about 70 students per semester and they usually have over 200 applicants each time. A friend of mine just started her first semster this fall (RN). I was just talking to her tonite and she mentioned that a friend of hers was accepted last spring and the lowest GPA for that class was a 2.7. I'm at a 3.0 and that scares the living daylights out of me! lol! It's so borderline. but her story gave me hope! i was pretty much not even looking forward to receiving my acceptance letter anymore until tonite. now i can't wait again!

I wish I could travel. I live about 5 minutes tops from AACC. I have 3 daughters.. ages 7, 5 and 8 months. It will be hard enough to keep up a crazy schedule living so close and even with being able to rush out of class at 3:00 and pick them up from school at 3:10 lol. BUT, if a retake my lowest grade classes in the spring (assuming i'm not accepted) and then reapply for fall and STILL don't make it....then I will have to consider other schools. Thank you for the list! I wonder if the fact that I took Human bio instead of a&p will cause problems if I have to transfer? I hope not. but i guess we'll see!!

Keep me updated!! Have you already decided to go with CCBC? A great friend of mine graduated from there last year. ohhh i just can't wait to be a nurse!!!!

Good luck and thank you soo much! It's so awesome to have someone to talk to who relates to all this craziness!! lol!

Hi NicoleM1126,

I wonder what's taking so long for AACC to process applicatons. Spring 2010 is only 2 months away and there's so much that you have to prepare for and get done before you start your first semester such as CPR course, backrground check, physical examination, titers/immunization records, Drug Calculations course, etc. All of this have to be completed before we enter the nursing program. Well this is what is required for CCBC and I think most schools.

Well I hope that you get in if you only stay 5 minutes away. That would be ideal! I know that it will be difficult trying to travel with young children trying to get them back and forth to daycare and be on time for school. I have a 2 year old daughter and I am panicking because I have to find her daycare too. I guess this is going to be a challenge for the both of us, having kids and trying to go back to school, but we can do it and just have to keep our eye on the prize then we will be able to get our dance on!

I think you will be okay with the human biology because I think you can take either that or Anatomy. CCBC was my first pick because it will be closer to me because I live in Laurel so it will take me like 20 minutes to get to school and and AACC from Laurel is a 45 minute drive. So I did accept the seat for CCBC for Spring 2010.

So keep me posted also on what's going on with your progress and we can give each other support!

Sincerely,

alynn.malone

Hi all

Thought I would let you know that I called the nursing department at AACC today and was told that they would "most likely" be mailing out the decision letters for spring 2010 this Wednesday afternoon. So with that being the day before Thanksgiving they probably won't get to us before this weekend or early next week. I am hoping they decide to just send them out sooner, but if not I guess we just get to pray and wait and pray some more. Good luck!

I was in the office today between classes, and over heard them discussing getting them out early this week.

Hang in there! Soon enough, you'll be swept up in the whirldwind!
