Hi any Coppin students out there...I would love to hear from you. I applied for the fall 20089 semester but never heard back. I'm assuming I got rejected because I got a 67 on the Reading section on the NET both times. I was sad because I really wanted to go there!!! Also, I wouldnt have had ENG 102 done in time to sign up for my Level 2 nursing classes. Anyway now I'm finishing up my last science class(microbio) at CCBC and am planning on applying again.
I heard from Mr. Best and Mr. Boyd that they're going to be using the TEAS this time instead of the NET. I already took the TEAS for CCBC and got an 84.1 overall and a 90 in reading...so hopefully that helps.

I also heard that they are planning on changing the cirriculum to a two year program..like how UMB, Hopkins, and Towson has...does anyone know anything about this..???

I'm a coppin nursing student. You haven't heard from them yet because you didn't pass the NET. I'm not sure if they send a letter if you don't get accepted for a school year. I'm a junior nursing student and I remember getting my acceptance letter in june or july the year I entered the program. I haven't heard about them changing to a two year curriculum yet (it's currently 3 years for the nursing program). If you did good on the TEAS at CCBC then you will probably do good on it again if you reapply for Coppin. Good luck

Thanks for the info...this year it seemed like they were pretty late with everything. They didn't start testing until June and had dates available through the end of July! But I applied to CCBC to start in Spring 2010. I feel like if I get in by the grace of God, I should just accept my seat there and do RN to BSN later. I just want to start as soon as possible but at the same time, if I could knock the BSN out at the same time, that would definately be a better choice. I liked Coppin, but I felt like they are so disorganized...there were times where I felt like I was processing my application. The good thing was once you brought something to their attention, they would fix it immediately.
Also, how good/bad is their financial aid office? I used to work with this one girl that goes there(she is not in the nursing program) but I remember her telling me in January, when she was about to start the spring semester that she still hadn't gotten her refund check from the fall! I will be relying on loans to pay bills like my car note and other living expenses(I'm assuming I won't be able to work very much while I'm in the program)...and I don't have any help from family or anything so I will be relying on that refund check to get by. I don't think it would be feasable for me to wait 4 months for a refund check.

I can honestly tell you from my experience that Coppin is disorganized. Part of that disorganization is because they are trying to develop an action plan for having the lowest nclex scores for a second year in a row. But I would strongly urge you to reapply for next fall if you want to get your BSN. If you go to CCBC and then do RN-BSN at Coppin or another university it's going to get very expensive for you. RNs that return to school to get their BSN don't get financial aid (they don't even qualify for most loans) because of their income. You'll either be paying out of pocket or if your employer has tuition reimbursement you can use that. It's worth it going straight for the BSN.

You can send me a email. I don't think you have to have a certain number of posts to send an email. I haven't gotten around to starting a facebook account yet. Once in nursing school you'll find you won't have time for a lot of things.
