For the application criteria, I think they treat everybody the same. I will apply for spring2010 as out-of-county student also. I have talked and email Jo Ann Day the admission for nursing, she told me that it goes by grade and points.

I don't know about Harford or other counties but it seems that most counties in my area (Montgomery/Frederick/Howard) give preference to county residents. And as it turns out, there are usually enough extremely competitive applicants that they have no need to pull any from out-of-county applications. I live in Mont. Co. and went to an info session in Frederick. I was told not to even bother applying. Even if my TEAS test scores were perfect and my GPA was 4.0. They have all the highly qualified applicants they can handle. Frederick may be different, however. They apply a point system and points are given for being in-county. An out-county applicant can't get those points so they will NEVER have the complete point count whereas there are plenty of in-county applicants who will. Check with the schools and see exactly how they assess the applicant pool. If they use a point system and give points for in-county applicants, getting in may be difficult if not impossible.

Now I know what field I need to go in to...teaching-PhD and open a program!

Backlogged with applicants and they're worried about the shortage. Soon as the economy turns back, the vacancies will increase rapidly.
