i've noticed that some of the local hospitals offer "scholarships" annually that provide modest to moderate assistance (typically 500-2000$/year) in exchange for signing non-compete agreements (typically at least 1 year) and agreeing to work at particular facilities (typically 1-2 years) after graduating often they carry non-fullfillment clauses causing repayment if you fail out, and many of the facilities that offer these "scholarships" tend to pay below-average wages as a result of your obligations to work there, but it's always an option.... and sometimes it's a good option as it does provide a job when you graduate, which can be challenging ad stressful as the 0 experience nurse who has some loans and bills to pay (or mouths to feed)

"White males are going to get shafted for getting anything for free."

I'm fairly certain crying over white males not getting free money for college might indicate a need to revisit a history book or two. I know you're "just sayin" or something like that, but sounds like you need to step outside of your immediate needs and get a little perspective. The sentence fragment "just because he was black" may not have always been used to lament the tragedy of minority Peds patients getting scholarships instead of white guys. Also, you shouldn't have punched that kid and his mother in the face. That was wrong.
I don't excuse anything that happened decades ago. However, equality over the past 50 years, hasn't really meant equal rights, but special rights. It's not like I haven't faced reverse discrimination in the workforce and was pretty much laughed at over the entire notion of a case when I clearly outperformed my co-workers. But when you're working in an establishment where black employees are writing racial stuff in bathrooms to make it look like they're being subjected to a hostile work environment in order to sue the company, they get away with everything and it's the white guys that get sent packing.

In other words, your complaining about experiencing a small degree of the discrimination that others have faced for centuries?

Why shouldn't he complain? He had no part in the prejudices of the past. Why should he have to pay for it? Any discrimination is bad business.

I don't want to get involved in the discussion of affirmative action or other issues related to the morality of giving male nursing students special scholarships. I just want to point out a new scholarship for male nursing students. Here's the link:

History and affirmative action aside... I'm interested in learning more about scholarships.

I am a "white" male, and I find people looking for scholarships for white males to be sort of ignorant. White is not a race, it is a color. Black students do not get scholarships because they are black, they get them for being African-American. Some get them for living in a ****** town, and didnt have as many opportunities as we white people had.

I don't mean to sound ****** here, but instead of looking for white people scholarships, find out more about your heritage. There are scholarships out there for Italian-Americans, German-Americans, etc. you just have to look. Also, we are already able to find money by being male in a predominantly female occupation. Enough arguing about racism.

obviously mr chicago is centuries old and personally experienced historical discrimination. i am centuries old, too, and was enslaved by the muslim barbary pirates off the coast of tripoli, like 2 million other european whites between 1600 and 1850. when the venture company my ship was financed by refused to pay my ransom, i was sold into a lifelong slavery in north africa. this was some years before the United States Marines appeared and forced the pasha to stop the piracy of American flagged vessels, ransoms for which made up 20-25% of the entire US budget by the time Madison took office...
