When someone mocks you for being a nurse

I just had a really ****** night where I was mocked for going to school to be a nurse. I can't explain how frustrated and ******* ****** off I get when people mock me for my decision to be a nurse and make a positive difference in people's lives. I feel like so many people think nurses just put band aides on people's fingers. I hate this and just needed somewhere to vent, people are idiots, if there weren't nurses the healthcare system would collapse faster than a ******* popped balloon.

Lol, to put it nicely

Hasn't happened to me yet but I wouldn't care.

It's unfortunate that people feel the need to put others down based on ideas that society has planted in their heads, particularly something as idiotic as perceived gender roles. I think it's important to remember that you've chosen a career path that will allow you to help people for a living, to be there for them in their time in need, to put a human face on healthcare. It's important work, and anyone who would put you down for wanting to do it is probably pretty unhappy with where their life has ended up.
