Nursing Students Male Students

Im starting my BSN program next semester at Emory Univeristy, where is everyone else at? Also, how is it like being a minority...

I moved from Honolulu to Atlanta. You'll be ok. Just know this, no good saimen to be had-ANY WHERE! Best Chinese (we're are spoiled) is ALL THE WAY in Marietta at House of Chan. The food was a BIG shock for me. I miss manapua the most.

My boyfriend teaches at Emory so, I am there often! You will love it! Glad to read things are going well for you!!

Hi Maggie! Long time no talk, yup, I decided to go to Emory, the campus was soooooo nice and the people too. It looks like there wont be any surfing for me for a LONG time :crying2:....
Specializes in SICU, EMS, Home Health, School Nursing.

I am in the Advanced placement program at Medcentral College of Nursing in Ohio. Only 5 more quarters to go!!

I finish at BYU this year. The program is excellent. The only problem I have had is there are never large gloves in our labs. Other than that I get the same amount of female patients as I do male. I think the girls enjoy having a guy around for classes and clinicals, we spice things up. L&D was fairly uncomfortable, but it's not where I want to work anyway. I think we can expect them to act funny when their hormones are soaring and they're in scorching agony. Good luck to all.

Am currently enrolled in ADN program in Ky. Actually only have 3 weeks of class left before starting preceptership. Hopefully will graduate in May. There are only 2 males left in our class of 30. I can say that I don't feel like I have been treated any different than any other students by our instructors but of course I do get the can you help me move someone it seems like quite abit. I just look at it as part of the process and just want to get through with these last few weeks pass finals and be the best nurse that I can be.

Whereabouts in Kentucky are you enrolled, bagger? I live in Sadieville and am seriously considering Lexington Community College (part of the University of Kentucky), though the email I received today from one of its professors indicated to me that she didn't give a rat's *** about prospective students or the personal lives of others (I sent her a huge email, talking about why I wanted to get into nursing, and the difficulties I am challenged with quite often). Her response to my long email was this:

"HI There,

Yes I went to SUNT Stony Brook for my masters degree. I am

from Long Island NY. I relocated here three years ago after the

birth of our grandchild Isabella who lives here in Lexiington. I

believe LCC is a great way to start your career as a professional RN.

If you have any further questions , please feel free to call me at

LCC ext. 4049 (859-257-4872). Good Luck Linda"

Maybe I am being way too over-sensitive here, and maybe they just have a lot of students become overly-enthusiastic and drop out, but still...if teachers really aren't that interested in learning about their students and a little more (than what you'd get in the classroom) about their prospective students, then maybe they should just get out of teaching.

Specializes in ER (future assignment).

6 more months and off to graduation!!!!!!!!!!!

Will start UIC (university of Illinois at chicago) in the fall of 05.

Evergreen Valley College ADN program. I have two more semsters left to go, so grad class of 06. I've noticed that my clinical teachers have given me about the same number of males and female patients. OB was ok i guess my hospital was not the best for that routation because pt's there did not like having male students and the nurses treated me and the other guy in my clinical group differnt then the females in our group. Just started pedi and its been great.

I am in the Advanced placement program at Medcentral College of Nursing in Ohio. Only 5 more quarters to go!!

Hey Christie - I start at MedCentral in June too! I can't wait to start! Have been up to the school a couple of times and administration seems very nice - I did my BA at Ohio State and it's quite a change coming to a small school like MedCentral - I keep thinking there is a lot of processing I need to take care of before school starts (like there was as OSU), but the administration is just like "chill... we'll take care of you".

anyway - will be nice to meet you - orientation on May 7, right?

I'm in the ADN program attending Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland. Currently finishing up my 1st semester (finals in Physical Assessment and Fundamentals of Nursing and the semester's over!). I have been assigned mostly male patients, but enough female pt's. so it's not a problem. I do note that most of the male students are 2nd (or 3rd) career guys. Anyway, I'm loving it, even though I'm going crazy from it at the same time :chuckle .

Just starting out at National Univ in San Diego.

So far it's pretty cool

I am attending, and be ready for this long title...

Husson College's and Eastern Maine Medical Center's Baccalaureate Nursing School.

*Sighs* Phew! Long title!

It is a small private college located in central Maine, in the city of Bangor.

I'm already two years in and will be starting my Junior year this upcoming September! YIPPY!

Specializes in ICU.

I also at Florida Hospital College, but for my ADN.

Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, NC with an ADN. Now attending Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences for BSN.

It's fun being the minority. I haven't had any problems with it. :)
