    Okay guys,

I need more people to sign up for the football pickem league at Yahoo. I KNOW there should be some football fans perusing this thread, so lets have a little fun in between classes this semester and see how good you are at picking winners. If interested , check out the details I posted in the original thread:

When I went to nursing school - back when Flo was teaching - there were 3 men in a class of 110. All of us were older students, starting on a second careers. Men still only comprise about 5-7 percent of all nurses. We need to encourage more men to join the profession!

Sorry, Here is the rest of my post. Got kinda carried away pressing to many buttons.

35-year-old male here starting my second semester trying obtain my ADN. After being an automotive/diesel fleet mechanic for 14 years, I decided to changes to a career in which I would be generally more appreciate for what I do. Hospitals are also warm in winter and cool in the summer unlike some of the shops I've worked in.

At first it use to bother me that I was entering a predominately female profession. When I would tell somebody, especially other men, I was going to school to be a RN they would give me a strange look as if I were either dumb or gay. Well, I would just let them think what wanted to. Now as I am entering my second semester it really bother me any more. My family and friends have come to accept my decision and have become supportive of me.

Just an update to my post, we had orientation yesterday...what a long but exciting day. I believe our male populus grew to 10 or 12 from the 6 that I originally counted. The instructors seemed to be thrilled that there were many more males in this class than have been in previous classes. Our first Nursing 1 class starts Monday...I am already studying the objectives and planning my extra hours to spend in the clinical lab...I am finally on my way, it sure does feel good.
