I had a 4.0 when I entered the nursing program. That promptly went right out the window once in the program, along with my being hard on myself when I don't make 100 on tests. Nursing school is great for humbling you and lowering your expectations for yourself.

I was just like you. I was four-oh on entry and got my first B in first-quarter nursing theory. Ouch! It was the worst Christmas ever. I didn't quit, but only just.
I like your point that NS is a very humbling experience. Since I gave up my pursuit of perfection, my life has become much simpler and my grades have actually gone up. I finally got my A in theory in the Spring.
I don't see any "perfection" in clinicals. I see lots of "pretty good" with moments of "freakin' awesome" but none of the nurses are flawless. That's why I like the team approach. There's always somebody there to remember what I forgot.
