3.79 GPA undergrad...starting an ABSN program in a month.

Most programs want a 3.0 or above so you're fine. And to be honest, I think being a male definitely helps. I asked my nursing school if it did and they said that they "do whatever possible to ensure diversity in incoming classes". Also, nurses at the hospital I work at STRONGLY DESIRE males coming in to nursing. Maybe it's just my region of the US or something.

Getting my pre-reqs for my ADN...4.0. But I pretty much had to bust my butt for it. Out of school for 8 years plus the fact that I'm just not a natural student.

Currently my GPA is 4.0 with A&P 1, Microbiology, Statistics, Speech 101, and Philosophy. I am finishing up my pre-reqs this semester. Currently an A in Chemistry and A&P, and no clue about my English class...

3.7 overall. The school I go to has a "nursing gpa" for certain classes. Which is 3.2. I suck at english, and writing papers, which is why I didnt get into nursing school this year. But all the cheaters who copied did. But I'm not mad, because they are all failing Bacteriology now, and I got an A. HAHAHAHA. . .

Mine was 3.1, with a 4.0 for all the prerequisites to get into the accelerated program. In a few more weeks, I will graduate from the accelerated program. I can't wait!!!

My cumulative GPA is only about a 2.6. The reason for that is because I went to 2 different colleges during the first 2 years out of high school, and took a bunch of random freshman classes that I had no interest in and did not care about. Consequently, I made several D's and F's during those 2 years.

When I became serious about school and started taking nursing pre-reqs at the school I'm at now, I made the "mistake" of forwarding my transcripts. Doing that shot my GPA down pretty low. Most of my actual nursing classes have been at my current school, and my GPA based on what I've done here has been about a 3.9ish/just under 4.0.

My GPA right now as it stands (I am still in first semester nursing school) is 3.6. However, this will not last, as my A days are very clearly over. Right now I will be happy to finish this semester with a B, which will knock that nice GPA right out the window.

As for being male, I don't think it helps in any way, particularly if your school is based on a point-based ranking system, which is dependant upon you're grades for pre's like A/P, and of course the NET test.

BTW-My hat is off to you guys who held 4.0 (and some of you still holding that) in nursing school! How in the heck do you do it??!!! Great job!

3.89 entering and a 3.83 currently. Forget straight A's unless you are going to dedicate your whole life to college. Plus how much more will that A get you a job over a person with a B? It won't.
