1. GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip
2. Tickle Me Elmo
3. Operation (the game for possible future MD practice).
4. Cans of Goo
5. $1 toys that you buy and break before you get home.
6. A book, "How to reverse frustration back on your nursing instuctors".
7. An open fire pit to burn all related books and documents related to nursing school.
8. A muzzle to shut up some of the students who think that "lecture" is another word for "story time" and go endlessly about nothing.
9. A wheel of cheese to go with the w(h)ine that some students have about nursing school.

This is a short list, all in fun, that I have.

Peace
Genhen

I recently graduated and I will be getting my first nursing paycheck in just 8 days!

My list so far:
1) Pay back my loans
2) Pay off my car
3) Buy a new house
4) Buy new GOOD furniture to go into the house.

I am expecting I can have it all done and paid for except paying off the house in about 3 years, then I will start saving for retirement.

How much was your first paycheck (if you don't mind me asking)?

well i figure i will have around 20k in student loans to pay off after BSN is done, so if i bring home 2500 per month (low estimate) i will put 1,000 each month on the student loan to have it paid off in 1.5 years, 500 into savings for us each month (be it retirement, savings etc..) 100 into a savings account for my daughter each month and the rest toward household expenses and paying off any other loans we might have (car etc...). Once the student loan is paid off i will start putting 500 dollars extra into savings, and may get a new (to me) car. I really want to save money instead of upgrading our lifestyle a whole lot. Hubby has a mom that i just know we are going to be responsible for sooner or later, and my mom has diabetes and is getting older and I know she will need some help as well. We are going to build a detached garage with an apartment as well either to use for one of the parents or to rent for a few hundred per month.

Just want to say for the record - I'm not a guy. Hope this doesn't offend anyone

However, there are times when the going gets tough that I dissociate and think about these things.

My dh has worked a lot of long, hard hours in the past 13 years and the last 2 have been the worst. The next 2 are probably going to be very difficult for him as I officially enter nursing school (I hope). SO - the first thing is he is taking a much deserved, extended vacation. While on said vacation he is going to clear his mind and open it up to all the possibilities he has. He can't be a stay at home dad - wouldn't have the patience for it - but at least he will be able to relax and think about doing something he wants to do for a while.

After that, we are building a house. It has been our dream since we have been together (18 years - 14 married). Where we live is in a flood zone - though it has never flooded completely. Also, with all the controversy about I-69 going in through Indiana, it would run right by our front yard - after they take the homes on the other side of the street and leave us here SO!

After that - who knows!! I guess student loans will have to be paid back, but I don't like to think about that when I think about finally earning money

Everyone has great desires and dreams!! Good luck to everyone!

Will start with the really exotic stuff, like mortgage and food. After that, it's all gravy.

Here's to hopin' that there's at least a little "gravy", lol!

Hope you guys don't mind a girl posting.....but I thought you might appreciate this.......one of the first BIG things to purchase for my husband (who has worked two FT jobs to put me through school, who continuously cleans and NEVER complains) is a Black Cloud Bike kit. I think he deserves it!
