Scrubs, Anyone?

Hi all,

It is seen that there are several styles and colors of scrubs available. For you experienced students and nurses, are there any little features that you like to see in your scrubs? I dunno, say real belt loops instead of a drawstring... or some similar thing.

I got my acceptance letter late (yesterday) and it does not have any info on this matter as to the style & color my college (HVCC in Troy, NY) prefers. 'guess, I will have to wait until the counseling session that I have to schedule the first thing Monday to learn those particulars.

Like anything else, I am sure there are differences in quality & desirable/not so desirable feature in scrubs. What are the experienced community thoughts on matters such as scubs? I am sure some annoying feature can lead to a seemingly longer day than it actually was.

Hi there I am entering my 3rd semester there and the scrubs are white tips and Forrest green pants. The uniform is available at Sharon's uniform in Clifton park.

Wear whatever your school requires you to wear. Be happy if it isn't all white like I had to wear back in the day. Once in the real world most of the guys I work with wear aviator scrubs.

I prefer cargo pants. I need the pockets for my wallet, change, keys, phone, etc. I am male so I don't carry a purse to stash all of my stuff in.

I really like the scrubs that have a bit of stretch built in. There are some cheap ones from places like Walmart that feel like I'm wearing a paper gown :down:. Then there are some that are made of a stretchy kind of fabric, not sure what, but they are very soft and easy to move in. I always test them out in the fitting room before buying them to see if I can comfortably squat down all the way and can give myself a big bear hug. I go to school in Alberta, and we don't have a specific dress code, we can wear whatever colors we want, but they says it's a good idea to stay away from really crazy bright patterns. Leave those for peds ;). Hope this helps

A bunch of nurses running around in fanny packs.

Just do what I do. Debit card/cash in your bra, lip gloss in one pocket, phone and keys in the other pocket. Simple!

You'll have to wear what they want you to thru school. i don't like the regular scrubs so cargo pants with lots of pockets would be my choice.

The fanny pack could work. Just think of all the stuff I could keep in it, tape, alcohol swabs, saline flushes, keys, wallet, and if I get the big one a pack of cheese crackers and a Mt. Dew.

Besides, I prefer not to keep cash/card in bra. May get some unwanted advances since I am a heterosexual male. :lol2:
