Plus, IMHO [at least from what I've experienced] as a military nurse/officer you receive more mutual respect from the MDs, compared to civilian nursing environment.

someone should post a thread somewhere outlining all of the binnies you get as an officer in the armed forces. i think people would be really surprised. most people i know see the base pay and turn away, but when i start telling them about bah, baq, cola, comrats, seapay, family sep pay, AND ALL TAX FREE, they are stunned. i was BRINGING HOME $1300 every 2 weeks when i was stationed in san diego (imagine being paid MORE to live somewhere so awesome!) as an E5. as an O1, you could expect twice that much.

At 32 yrs old your still a young man! The Health Care profession is also my second career, and I started college when I was 32 yrs old. Plus, the Army Nurse Corps cut off age is 46 yrs old.

Oh my gosh your kidding! 46 years old! I am prior Air Force from many moons ago. I have often thought about joining the military again, but thought I was to old. I am in my last semester of an associates degree practical nursing program. Is there any information available online about this? I am 43 soon to be 44 and I would not mind finding out a little more about this opportunity.

Have an Army Health Care Recruiter put together your application for direct commission packet, ASAP. BTW, if its benefits the military they can always pull out the waiver card.

Bell I was server in a so so place to eat but it helped. I have 2 in college that work as servers. One works just weekends and one works full time in addition to school/I have 4 in college so they have no choice. Some times my dtr makes over 300 for a weekend.

Just a small note about student loans. Most of them you don't have to pay on while you are in school. You can choose to pay the interest (which was about $11.00 every couple of months for me), and with most students loans you don't have to start paying them back until you have been out of school for about 6 months. Good Luck to you !!!
