Male new grads and jobs.Register Today!
- by fullefect1 Mar 29, '11For the new grad males out there, let me know how your hiring situation is?? How long did you wait? especially compared to your other classmates who were not males. I just sent out my first round of applications last night, and now I am going to see how long it takes, and of course try to make some phone calls and follow ups.
It would be interesting to know if giving the economy, being a minority/diversification really means anything.

- Mar 29, '11 by Hokis1130one of my male friends from school got hired very quickly within two week of taking the nclex. but he had also worked for that hospital for a number of years as an aide and I did go to school in IL at the time. But overall, I have heard good things about male nurses that a lot of places want males because in nursing there are so many females!!!! Just put in as many applications as you can.
- Mar 31, '11 by 2ndyearstudentQuote from fullefect1I've noticed that people in my area who graduated with health care experience tended to get jobs more often than people without experience regardless of gender. There are probably some specialty areas (peds, OB) that males will have more trouble getting into, but I've noticed that male nurses are extremely welcome sights on Med Surg and ICU units. It would be interesting to know if giving the economy, being a minority/diversification really means anything.
I'm in the same boat as you, sending out applications now.
