What a team! What energy! I was 47 when I passed my NCLEX (I had been a Letter Carrier for 20+ years) and, for the past few years, I work as a Family NP for the Veterans Administration - in Geriatrics! I'm 58. Not easy - never regretted a moment.

My ADN program is full of women in the 35-45 range and a few in their 50s, of the 4 guys 3 of us are 42-44 the youngster is 39. We do have one woman that is 64, although she's been a LPN for years.
Ironically her daughter is paying for it! Kathy pushed her daughter to a RN diploma school and through her MSN and Practitioner's License now the daughter is giving her a payback.

I am 40 and will begin CNA classes on May 5th! I cannot wait, and this thread has been very encouraging to me. Thank you!

By my estimates (and praying all goes well) I should be 41 by the time I graduate with my BSN. Thank you for the inspiration!!!

After much research and quite a few posts on this site I have decided not to go the LPN route and go for my RN. The means by the time I finish the prerequisites and wait for the cycle to start at the community college I want to go to I'll be 59 when I get out of school. Does that qualify for the " Oldest Male Nursing Student Award?"

I became interested when serving as a Navy Hospital Corpsman but got sidetracked and ended up with an MBA in Healthcare Administration and a long successful career. Now I am fulfilling a dream. I'm in great physical shape with good longivity genes and expect to work at leat 10 years when I get through school.
Am I the oldest guy doing this?
Might be.

When I graduated 10 years ago, there was a fellow in my class who recently retired from the auto industry (assembly line). He was looking for something to do in retirement. He was 62 when he started school.

Admittedly, I don't know if he's still working as an RN.

Best of luck...there are a lot of fun and convenient things you can do as an RN.

Judging by the appearance of some of the RN's I've come across, you can apparently work until you are dead.

I used to be a flight attendant, and I had the same thought about some of them
