I think that I may be the oldest male nursing student when I enter this fall

There are many many individuals in my program of all age groups and especially around your age. It is NEVER too late to accomplish your goals and really do what you're passionate about. I wish you the best in your future!

This thread is great. My first foray onto the forum, starting school in the fall at late 40s yo, retired military. My wife keeps telling me that all my fellow students are old enough to be our kids...aargh.

"Age...its' only a number" just finishing up my prereqs' this Spring..then I'll be able to "apply" and pray I get "picked" by the "lottery system"...I'm older than most of my Profs' never mind the kids!!........I'll be 55 end of April!!! Good Luck!!

I know a male nursing student who has adult children a couple years younger than me. I don't know exactly how old he is, but it's just great in general to have more male nurses because they're very task-oriented. The older males are more mature. I really enjoy working with male nurses!

Good luck boys, old or young, remember, the patients don't care, they just want you to help them! Maturity is a good thing!

I'll be 49 when I start nursing school! One of the interviewers (for the accelerated program I am hoping to enter) commented that the older students tend to keep things on track and focused.

I'll be graduating the day before my 47th Bday this August if I make it. Nursing school has been a blast and I am so ready to get out and go to work! Great hearing from my peers!

You're the oldest guy out of the gate that I know. I'm 44. Another dude in my class is 52. Got a friend who was 42.
