  1. Another guy here. Just got out of the Army a few months ago and am planning on finishing up my prereqs this Sept. Will be utilizing my GI Bill and applying to programs in the Boston area for Fall 2011.
  2. And another one!!!!..
  3. I am a 34 year old male who just finished my BA in Healthcare administration, and I about to get certified as an CNA, and then I start this fall at Gordon college in Georgia for thier nursing program. What's so funny is that my mother was a nurse for like 20 years, my grandmother was a nurse, and now I am going to the same college where my wife graduated as a nurse in 2008.

My wife tells me that they are a lot of male nurses who work in the ER with her, and she has really encouraged me to go to school for nursing, so I am looking forward to becoming in the special "murse" society!!
  4. Good luck dude! You sound like me! I was a successful real estate agent for about 5 years until the market went dormant, and then I just graduated in May 2010 with my BA in Healthcare administration. I have been married for about 10 years with 2 children. My mom was a nurse for about 20+ years, as well as my grandmother, and now my wife graduated from Gordon college in 2008 and has been working as an ER nurse and loving it. She told she has heard of a lot of married couples as nurses, so I am pretty excited. Job security is really important to me, as it is to you. May the good Lord bless our endeavors!!

Our plany closed in Feb. of 09 and with Uncle Sam offering to pay my way completely and my wages I decided Id love to be an RN. Ive wanted to do this for yrs but finances and a family just didnt make it possible. Now Ive been hurled into it and love. I always made the Deans list in the 3 semesters I spent getting my pre-reqs. so I hope to do well in the program . Good luck to all.

    Hi Dave,

Like you, I wanted to switch careers to healthcare for years, but family and finances prevented it. Last May it finally dawned on me that there wasn't anything standing in the way anymore between me and a career change to nursing. I immediately quit my job and started taking pre-reqs, then started nursing school this past January.

Don't feel like you're too old! I'm 58, and in my 3rd semester now of the accelerated BSN program at Georgetown. I'll be graduating and going back to work (finally!), next May.
  8. Good for you! I went back to school in my mid 40's and I find I am a better student now than I have ever been in my life. Nursing is a demanding and well respected field. You will do well. I envy your welding skills though! I have tried to do a nice clean weld for a long time and it's not easy. I am very proud of you brother. Keep it up.
  9. I know this is an old post, but just wanted to say I'm in the club! I am 35 years old, married with 2 kids and in my 2nd year of school.
  10. I am a guy going for an accelerated BS to BSN.
