I am the 39 year old attorney who previously posted about wanting to change careers and become a nurse. I just wanted to extend my SINCEREST thanks to all who took the time to respond to my post. The responses were overwhelmingly positive and provided me not only with GREAT insight, but a level of encouragement I have yet to receive even from family and friends. I am extremely grateful to you all!! (I also want to specifically thank those who may be have 'questioned' my decision making process. Your comments also served to make me think long and hard about this process.)
I thought you'd all be interested to know that I have made a decision to begin work on my prereq which include Microbiology and a Nursing Assistant Program (which is now a requirement for admission to the nursing program I'll be seeking admmission to.) Classes start on September 21! I'm very excited. I'm particularly excited about the NA course which will put me to work every Saturday for 6-8 hours. I imagine it will provide great exposure to what the future has to offer as a nurse and provide me with practical experience, albeit as a NA but I'll still be working on developing my bedside manner with patients.
So I suppose this is my first step towards becoming a nurse! Granted, these are just prereqs and things could change but I am very hopeful that this is the first step in my journey!
Thanks again to ALL of you!! It really meant alot to me. And please, keep the comments coming!
Sincerely,
39 year old lawyer
